Italian word?
Maybe anybody of the italian members can help.

It's Latin, nova=new and acies can be many translates, cutting edge, sword, navy even battle, probably the translation are New Navy or New Sword

I would have to opt for the less literal translation, New Edge, as that seems to fit the cracker fetish for bombastic group names.
