If someone has forgot or doesn't know, here's the Mac-On-Amiga page.

I'm curious, I know I experimented a lot with shapeshifter & fusion back in the days, but was x-wing ever playable? I know I got dark forces running, but not the real 3d games.

Hi,

Is there any way to have 'custom' hardfiles with Fusion? It seems to use its own Hardfiles (eg MSHardFile0) inside a folder. I ve put on that folder some ready hardfiles (from Basilisk on a pc) but they are not visible under the Hardfile selector of the Fusion, perchaps I need to modify a prefs file?

thx

chris

They have to be renamed MSHardFileX with X being 0 to 9 and, be careful, it is case sensitive. Then, they should appear in the list of available disks.

Could somebody please put Fusion 3.2c in the Zone for me. I thought I had it but when I looked the most recent I had was 3.1. Thanks!

These are all official Apple updates and are freely available on their site, along with the disk images for the OS, but I have installed it all and packaged the harddrive file for anyone else to try.

http://home.exetel.com.au/~amiga/MacOS7.6.1.zip
(This and an additional "MacGames" HardDriveFile are both on the EAB FileServer, so it's best to get them from there)

All you need to run it on a sufficiently expanded 020-060 Amiga are:

ShapeShifter 3.11 - http://aminet.net/package/misc/emu/ShapeShifter
MuEVD - http://aminet.net/package/misc/emu/MuEVD
MuFastZero - http://aminet.net/package/util/boot/MuFastZero
VirtualLink - http://aminet.net/package/comm/tcp/vlink

Here are the recommended ROM and OS for each CPU type:

Best ROM Images

68000: Mac Se
68020: Mac LC
68030: Mac LC III
68040: Quadra 650
68060: Quadra 650

Best OS Versions

68000: 6.0.8
68020: 7.1.1
68030: 7.6.1
68040: 8.1
68060: 8.1

This forum has further help with Mac ROMs - http://nbbemulation.free.fr/forum_ma...opic.php?id=69

Just rename the ROM file to Shapeshifter.ROM and copy it to the Shapeshifter drawer.

There is another Shapeshifter hardfile on the EAB fileserver that I have installed a bunch of Mac games on, so you can mount that as your second drive and play a bunch of games.

I'm in the process of writing a guide on installing and using Shapeshifter on the Amiga too, so when that's done I'll paste it here or wherever the most current Shapeshifter thread is.

Remember: You can play games like Warcraft II, Links Pro Golf, Settlers II, Prince of Persia II and other cool games and sequels that weren't released on the Amiga, all in 640x480 in 256 colours! With the AMAZING MuEVD video driver, these games are totally playable on a 030 AGA machine.

This was more of a general message for any Amiga users wanting to try MacOS on their Amiga, rather than a specific reply to anyone in particular.

Does anyone have the Games drive image that Cammy refers to? The EAB Server is down at the mo. thanks.

both fusion and shapeshifter runs dog slow for me. any idea's why? i mean it takes a hr just to boot up (hardfile) And never made it that far to get to the mac desktop. Tring to boot it again with the extensions disabled. Then format a 1.5 patition and copy everything over to it from the hard file. (thanks cammy).. think that it will go faster? This is on a a3k with134 megs ram and a 36 gig hd (10k spin). I would think it should boot fast. Am i misguided? maybe something in my startup slowing it down?

Do you guys have some tips about Mac internet browsers? Netscape 4.08 does work for me with basic html pages but is always crashing the whole amiga at some point.

Hi lost_loven, I'm sorry I missed you on IRC, I was asleep when you came in. Which filesystem is the partition you have the hardfile on running? If it's FFS, that's probably the reason it's so slow. You can try and make it a little faster by increasing the drive buffers, type this in an Execute Command prompt or CLI:
AddBuffers DH0: 300
Just replace DH0: with whichever partition you're using. I'd highly recommend reformatting your drives with PFS3 or SFS if you haven't already.
Another thing that may be slowing it down is if you're running a TCP/IP stack and have the vlink.device plugin set up for networking. You can just remove this if it's there, and try again to see if it's any faster.

Hi Calabazam, have you tried iCab? It's the best 68k Mac browser to use, but it's still not really that compatible with many modern websites despite it having minimal CSS support. It's also slow compared to running IBrowse, so I just prefer to run IBrowse or TwinVNC into a Linux box running Opera if I want to browse the web on my Amiga.

I've just installed Fusion and I've created a 200mb partition for it. It boots OK from that partition, but I want to know how can I transfer files to it. I would like to add games and some Internet software.

One way is by using CrossMac.

With CrossMac installed, you can transfer Mac archives (.sit, .bin, .hqx, .cpt, etc.) into the Macintosh partition in Workbench and then extract them within the Macintosh emulation environment provided you already have StuffIt Expander installed there.

I've been some hours installing Basilisk in the laptop and I could install OS8.1 from Cd, and even install Stuffit (that works) and ICab (I will see), just with the idea of using the Hd with the Amiga, but it doesn't seem to work. Perhaps it's too much for my ACA or I'm doing something wrong.

A question: Can I use the same Mac Hardrive partition for Fusion and Shapeshifter if I use the same rom?

Thanks Prowler I will search now about CrossMac. Edit: Only demo in Aminet? Edit: Ok, got it.
Edit: No. Too much work. It's easier with Shapeshifter, but it seems I can't use the same HD for both. With MacHandler is easy to transfer files.
Well, now I see that I need a larger partition to store games.
