Beige is boring!

Beige is super boring and this has always been the case. Why weren’t all Amigas Piano black. The CDTV and CD32 got this one right.

Yep, even when I was a kid I spent ages coming up with other colour schemes

Black is sad. I would prefer sky blue with dark blue keys.

@Pyromania, please tell me what exactly this thread has to do with the Amiga scene?

Look at the description under the Amiga scene i.e. "Comment and discuss about the latest news, rumours..."

To be honest; you are by far the worst offender and constantly post anything under the Amiga scene section.

I'm always having to move elsewhere...

Please; going forward, when creating threads think about where the best place is that it should go.

The biggest problem I have with subforum naming is "Nostalgia & memories" should be renamed to "General Amiga Discussion". That would encompass nostalgia as well as regular topics of discussion.

Yes it's just a name change, but "Amiga Scene", "Retrogaming General Discussion" and "General Amiga Discussion" would fit just about everything you'd want that isn't part of a specific subforum.

I can't make name or structure changes to EAB; only RCK can.

Put your thoughts forward in a thread under the project.EAB section.

Guilty as charged, sorry about that. I didn’t really know where else to put it.

"You don't appreciate what you've got until you lose it." All my modern computers and its accessories are black. I think the Amiga is now even more beautiful.

Erm.. I read that stackexchange page on "why were computers beige" -- what a load of nonsense.

It was just the style of the time, just as black is now. No rhyme or reason.

And this painting of Steve Jobs as some kind of God of computing is getting absurd.

They're just people, quite knowledgeable but also not infaillible, and often biased. Statements such as

Yeah, the revisionism regarding Apple's role in computer history is pretty bad these days. It just goes to show that the old adage "history is written by the victors" is quite accurate.

And it's not like everything was actually beige back then, it's just that all the photos have faded to that color. For example, Space:1999 clearly could not have been as depressingly beige as this picture implies, right?!?

Nothing wrong with beige anyway. If it's good enough for Nostromo then it's good enough for me.

So computers were beige for many years because they were trying to copy Space 1999. I just knew there was a reason.

Quite simply actually: Cost

Beige is the cheapest; meaning, more profit.

The CDTV was really Black, because it was aiming to fit in with those Hi-Fi Component Racks. They where pretty much all black.

The CD32 was actually a cheap Black (dark grey), but it was chosen to "fight the SEGA MEGA-CD".

Now you know; hope you are not disappointed.
I like my Amiga in beige
