"The Real Alan Sugar" - BB2, UK, now...
I've been shouting at the TV. "The real Sir Alan Sugar", BBC2...
The BBC is so sycophantic it's pathetic. "the man who brought computers to the British high streets" "Revolutionised home computing" I think they think they're interviewing Sir Clive Sinclair, maybe? I've calmed down now a little, but blimey it annoys me when smoke is so obviously blown up someone's rear end because they have "exclusive access". Sheesh. |

The media are under the impression that they have to use this fawning, servile and sycophantic interviewing technique to preserve their "exclusive access".

Yeah, I bit Bill's still bitter . Not seen it yet...
He apparently invented the tower hifi. And he "realised" that computers were too complex, so integrated a monitor. Three words though: three inch disks. (that's an s, not a c, before some parts of this community get excited ) |

Alan Sugar
An East End Barrel boy, who mad his money copying other peoples designs & efforts with his cheap S*it imitations & ripping the public off unloading crap which never worked properly. One Big reason this country / Europe / World is in such a mess & has the morals worthy of cesspits is down to the fact that too many Alan Sugars are in business. I have nothing good to say about him at all apart from "The Apprentice" being entertaining when all these muppets run round him & stab each other in the back to please him. I've said my bit and I'm not going to be drawn into any arguments as I wont be posting further on this thread. TC Just wanted to add this thread linky,,,, http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=37486 Last edited by TheCorfiot; 11 January 2009 at 22:56. Reason: link |

Who reckons he's secretly a closet gay? Perhaps the lover of a regular member of this BBS?
Fred, do you know Sir Alan? I wrote a letter to Alan in 2002 about a move that would have saved the eMailer plus but must have never got it. It was shortly before 192 was opened up for competition. The eMailer could do 192 lookups for 3p per number and the average price of 192 was 30p/min! They could have pushed the marketing and owned the small business market. I wrote him another letter in 2003 showing how the eMailer plus could be used to send and receive SMS text messages for next to nothing, just a bit of software and a marketing push targeting parents who cannot operate or do not have mobile phones! Finally again in 2003 I sent him a letter showing how the eMailer plus could become a base-station for mobile phones so that when you are in the house you can make landline calls with a mobile handset. One cheap extra circuit and again no reply. Terrible waste. Last edited by alexh; 11 January 2009 at 23:28. |

TC, I think you've summed it up eloquently there. No innovation, just box shifting and imitation... I think the wisest thing he did was see a gap in the market for simple word processing, and he leapt on it.
Then thought he could take on IBM. oh dear oh dear oh dear... |

Grrr.. I always hated Alan Sugar for killing off the Speccy!!!
Them tools at Amstrad tried to make it into a CPC464 with that stupid bolt-on tape drive (which was crap) and didn't include tape/mic ports so that you could use your own tape drive. And don't even mention the +3's incompatibility issues!!!! I almost vomited when I saw the Amstrad copyright on the Speccy - instead of the lovely familiar '1982 Sinclair Research Limited'. I had an Amstrad hi-fi in the 80s and that was a load of cheap nasty poor quality shite too! I hope the credit crunch does him in and he ends up as a Special Brew supping tramp on Euston station, urinating himself and shouting at passing cars! |

Does anyone know of any Amstrad products that still work? They must be quite rare.
