I've sent Harrison a message detailing what I believe the problem is.

It appears that the pointers to the site servers have changed as a result of the software upgrade at 1&1 and that the Apache Server part needs to have the pointers file (httpd.conf) edited to reflect the change. Simply put, it's looking for index.php in the wrong place.

@ Moijk

Does WAMP mean anything to you in this context?

I need the "post here every time you get something new thread"

I need to check my pm's "not that any 1 will hav pm'd me when site was down.. But they could have just before it went down"

I need to generaly browse the forum to see if theres any thing i can help with, or if theres anything i have some 1 needs. Or even something i need that some one has..

All this stuff is essential to my daily web routine..

My wife is ripping me to pieces!!

I think im going to go out for a while.. take the missues some where.. (possibly drop her off the side of a cliff if she dosent stop mocking me)
and then when we get back. see if amibay is back..

I cant take this GAAA!

I appreciate Amibay more now that I understand what I am missing when it is gone!

Really wish the chap selling the 8-core AMD PC will read this - I still want to give you my money!!

I'm a LAMP-person, but apache config is the same even though it is under windows.

Merlin's posts in here are the closest to an official statement.

Something along the lines of the Servers at the DataCentregot upgraded and now Amibays Apache server is pointing to the wrong place. Can't get resolved easily until Harrison manages to take a look. Is the general gist of it though.

i thought apache was a hosting program you ran on your pc that emulated mysql / FTP, server(s),
Im all confuzed as to how apache is a part of the problem..

if the hosting server's using apache, isnt it just structured the same as it was. "given ftp works"

So wouldnt that more point towards a domain forwarding issue.. (server ip has changed?)
but having said that then i guess ftp wouldnt work either if that was true.

the 403 issue would imply something to do with access premissions, Unfortunatly my knowlage of web pages stoped some where back when everything was html..
So i am simply desperatly throwing out sugestions.

"on a side note, you will probably be glad to hear i did not throw my wife off of a cliff, I think the serious nature of 'no amibay' finally dawned on her, and she is no longer teasing me"

No, apache just handles http, things like ftp, mysql, php are also servers, it is the integration of these that gives a platform to run appliances like vbuleitin or wordpress for example...

Probably as simple as changing a path in a config file (apache2.conf?)

Hi guys. As Justin said, my house was flooded last week (West Sussex) and we have to move out for 6 months while the insurance company get the house dried out and then put it back together. Plus I have a new 6 week old baby boy. And now the server issues. So quite a bad time at the moment. Also had car issues last week too, so bit of a nightmare.

We have (fingers crossed) finally found a house to move into for the 6 months (everywhere in Chichester is rented out due to the number of flood victims), and should be moving this coming weekend if everything goes through OK. So should have some normality again.. I definitely won't miss the smell of damp, or living in the bedroom for the past week.

I do still have internet at the moment so, time permitting, I will try my best to get Amibay back up and running for you all, hopefully sometime over night, or failing that hopefully tomorrow. I will try to keep you updated here, but will post the official progress updates on the classicamiga forums http://forum.classicamiga.com, so please check there if you don't see any updates here.
