2mb amiga 500

Just wondering if anyone know how this work, well I asked hime and he says you put it in the trapdoor and then replace the gary chip with this...
but don't you need 2mb agnus for this too?

No Agnus needed, it is not visible as chip ram.

okej I see, I did the hack for 1mb chipram on my rev6a, cut traces 2-3 on JP2 and connected 1-2 instead, then cut 2-3 on JP7A.
Now I have 1mb chipram, if I use that thing on E-bay how will that work, will I have 2mb chipram? Or 1mb chip and 1mb fast?

I seem to remember you need KS1.3 or higher as well for these to work.

you wil need to re-connect EXRAM for you to use this adapter -

its quite likely that this adapter will assert the higher 512KB as (slow) FAST - thus giving you 512KB CHIP and 1.5MB (slow) FAST

You will not be able to get 2MB chip with this, but you might be able to map the first 512k as chip. Read the manual.

Better yet, donate high quality shots of the card and manual to bboah if it isn't already there.

Nope I am afraid not

Even if you installed a 2MB agnus < 8372B (8372AB) or 8375: 318069-02> you still couldn't get 2MB chip as the A500 Agnus socket requires another address line to be mux'ed (multiplexed) with the extended 1MB of memory.

It is possible to do this at home (A2000 rev 6 is the same as a Rev6a A500) - although there will be a fiar bit of jumpwire and piggybacking the chips will likely mean you probably wont be able to shut the plastic case.

Other buying an MiniMega 2MB (or other) Chip RAM adapter then the next best thing to do is build your own plug-in agnus with 1MB already on it.
