Joypad buttons seem to change randomly
I've been trying use my Gamepad Pro USB joypad so I can use this emulator without a keyboard(which is a whole other monster to configure right). I can't seem to get anything to stay consistent though. This controller is a replica of a Sony Playstation controller, and I naturally expect the bottom of the four buttons(the X if this were a psx pad) to be the button for jump. When I first tried playing games with this joypad with this emulator, that button did act as jump. But then suddenly now the only button for jump in any game is pressing up, which is just too awkward. I swear I do nothing different but keep switching Port 1 to the gamepad and setting it to "Compatibility Mode" in the Input tab(Port 0 seems to render the joypad unrecognizable at all), yet most of the time, it's ALWAYS set so that jump is the up button. Rarely does it seem to go back to the bottom button(X or whatever you'd like to call it, of course not the bottom directional button). Anybody have any idea what the problem could be here?
I hope I've made sense here since I don't know if everyone is familiar with what a PSX/Playstation joypad looks like, though I'll assume most do ![]() Thanks for the time ![]() |

Hi draccat,
are you sure you tested it with the same game? Most Amiga platformer use 'up' for jumping. I have both a PS style gamepad and a classic Competition Pro USB joystick. For the games that require 'up' for jumping the Competition Pro is far better. I've never had any problem with a remapped button with my PS style controller. |
