Reverse the "Create harddisk image file" option

Hi,

maybe it is possible to create a "reverse" option of the "Create harddisk image file"?

The "Create harddisk image file" works very good and I use it so make a backup of my real Amiga harddrive. And then it would be cool if I could write the whole (harddisk)file back to my real harddrive (connected to my PC, of course) in case I have messed up something on my Amiga or just to have a backup in case the amiga harddrive dies .

Just `n idea ...

CU,

There's two ways you can do this
1) Mount the disk image and your hard drive as physical disk in WinUAE, and then copy from one o the other using the emulated AMiga environment
2) I haven't tried this, but maybe a tool like VHD2disk will work: http://forum.sysinternals.com/vhd2disk_topic27311.html . Toni might be able to tell us if it would.
I would have said to use Win32 Disk IMager but not sure if it handles VHD files.

Same answer as usual, I won't add 1:1 hdf cloning back to drive because:

a) there can side-effects if drive size changes and then partitioning utility is run (that is not my problem!)
b) it can be too easy to choose wrong drive.

This is probably the easiest, no nonsense option. Would be nice if there was a block copy available somewhere.

There are two packages on aminet:

2. http://aminet.net/search?query=dd.lzh

Just use this tool to make your expensive mistakes: https://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/ .. or winimage or whatever.

If a tutorial is needed, then please don't do whatever you're trying to do.

I did just this thing last night.

I had created a 1200 from http://classicwb.abime.net got it all setup and then created another base 1200 UAE config, added the 4gb CF card and booted from 31install disk and then partitioned out the CF card and formatted it and set dh0: as bootable. Also did reassign the classicwb to dh2: to avoid drive conflicts.

Then just dragged and dropped all the stuff from the classicwb to the fresh dh0: on the cf card.

Shut it all down and plugged the cf card into the 1200 and boom it booted all up. Granted I have plain jane 1200 so I had just about 208k left on ram and nothing was loading, lol. But it did boot and work. Was happy
