Amiga 4000D

Hi!

I'm looking for a nice Amiga 4000D in the UK, preferably with a keyboard and ideally one which has been recapped and without battery damage. CPU speed isn't as important as being in good condition.

Have a budget of between £1000-£1200 depending on whats on offer.

I have a wanted thread on Amibay too but so far haven't had any responses.

Please let me know if you have or know where one is available!

Many thanks.

Hi Stephen,

To be honest Amibay is probably your best option but they don't turn up often.
Bought mine from there in 2016 without CPU card (didn't need it, have a CSMKII 060 card) for £500.

Prices have probably gone up a bit so £1000 is probably a reasonable price for a 030.
And no, you can't have mine

I have a recapped one you can have much cheaper than that, but it’s in PC tower case, in Norway

Ahh thanks for the thought, but I need the Desktop version in order to quench the guilt that I have for getting rid of one in the 90s.

Not having much luck however

I shared your very same pain back in the 90's too & had lots of luck with several A4Kd's some years ago since.

These days though, they're fast becoming like Hens Teeth.

nogginthenog is right RE AmiBay tho & it will probably be your best bet.

Good Luck for you fella.

An interesting observation..... A4000 in a tower is not as desired as an original A4000 in a desktop case.

A4000 in a PC tower can mean a lot of things. Assuming at the worst that it was at the height of gigantic beige PC towers, it might be a bit of an eyesore. While at the same time a lot of people now don't have the need of 2 or even 3 ISA slots for TBCs or 7 Zorro slots any more. Or a half dozen HDDs when a single HDD and maybe a CF in an external bay is more than enough.

Most of the A4000 tower kits were full sized towers. Really annoying to store and lug around. :-)

Sounds like my self made tower from the 90's. Upside was that it was large enough for the A4000 motherboard. Downside was that in order to align the rear ports the Zorro cards hung downwards. Never caused an issue though.
