Is there any info about Vision Software?

I wanted to get any information about Vision Software, but without any success. It seems they dissapeared without any trace and there is no possibility to find a contact to anyone from the team - Paul Andrews, Rodney Smith or Blair Zuppicich. Is there any internet on New Zealand?

Their games were pretty solid. Woody's World is very fun and usually overlooked. Cybernetix it's a great Defender clone, Roadkill has its issues but overall is a very good game, Overkill is another great Defender clone...

And Seek & Destroy, oh boy how I loved that game. It was like an arcade version of Desert Strike, it was a very satisfying game.

Revisiting some Vision classics from childhood. Some thoughts:

Woodys World: Controlling Woody feels a bit sluggish and the way collisions/health work is annoying, but the graphics are so lively and the music is the real standout. The songs match the levels so well. In particular I love the theme for "Boats", which kind of has an A side/B side thing going on when you go inside the boats.

Cybernetix: Still so hard, but with some discipline, possible to advance far. Too bad after Sector 13 you don't really see any new enemies or other kinds of bosses – as far as I've gotten anyway. Still, great for a casual game and a real challenge. Going up against an attack wave full of Assassins tests you.

Overkill: My god this game is hard, but for being a spiritual successor to Cybernetix it doesn't feel that similar. I think because your ship is so underpowered at the beginning and the power-ups don't last forever, you have to play so much more defensively. I still can't get past the second ring of planets.

I did a livestream of these last week if anyone wants to check it out & will probably going to take another run at Woodys World in the near future.

Ah hell, this thread is in Requests – just the only Vision Software one I could find. Maybe a friendly mod could move it over to Retrogaming.

FWIW, I found a Blair Zuppicich on Facebook, but haven't reached out to tell him how much I like the Boats theme, or see what he and Vision have been up to.

Earok would be the best bet as he managed to upload the source code to Gloom.

I thought that Acid software was Vision software.

I don't know what cybernetix was like on the ST tho.

From moby games: https://www.mobygames.com/company/vision-software-inc

Vision Software was a game development studio based in New Zealand. It was founded as Art Computer Software in 1989 by Paul Andrews, Cameron McKechnie, Rodney Smith and Mark Sibly. The name was changed to Vision Software in 1991. They had a tight relationship with fellow New Zeeland software company Acid Software, formed by Mark Sibly in the early nineties.

The studio made two Amiga games for CRL Group PLC: Sirius 7 (1990) and Sorceror's Apprentice (1990), but did not receive any money for it for CRL.
___

Also really love their games, i see they made two more pc games, the last one 7th legionhttps://www.mobygames.com/game/7th-legion looks interesting
