Sony MPF920-E

Modded one of said drives to work on an Amiga, and it works almost fine.

Problem is that while it read and writes, as far as I have been testing it, addittional floppys(DF1-Df3) appears as faulty, when there isn't any other floppy drives connceted to the Amiga.

My guess would be that the JC30 isn't connected properly, but would like to hear here if there may be som other issue.

I also has a Ya-data 702d-6638d that I would like to mod if possible.

Did a search a while ago, but nothing showed up, so if anyone knows if these can be modded I would like to know.

Ready is probably stuck low if it shows all the drives all the time. Double check your work.

Some other YE-data model was easy to modify: http://jope.fi/drives/yd720d6037d/

Not sure what struck low means, but have looked over it, and din't see anyting obvious.

Will try to redo some of it tomorrow if I have the time.

Thanks for the link, but the version I have don't have the jumpers between the motor and power. It does have 6 holes, that on the underside is marked as DS0, DS1 and IF, H2. The PCB have a different layout then the picture. There is a P12 there, but the 14 solder joints that has one of the wires attached to it is not here on my version.

Stuck low means that the signal is tied to ground. Could you provide some good shots of the jumper area and all of the circuit board underneath please?

Thanks for the PDF, Prowler, added it to my drives page. I did my modification without that PDF, now I started to think whether it could have been done more elegantly by using the jumper blocks more. However I seem to remember measuring around the jumper area quite a bit and ended up choosing the jump wire route. :-)

Jope: Will take a picture a bit later and post it.

prowler: thanks for link. Will take a closer look, and see if I can understand any of it.

I'm afraid I'm more of a monkey see, monkey do approach, instead of real knowledge of how this works.

The red wire is connected to the incorrect leg on the chip.

If you want help with the Y-E Data, please also post pics of the jumper area above and the whole PCB below..

Thanks for pointing it out. Looks to be working fine now. At least WB 1.3 loaded with no problem.

Uploaded more pictures of the Ya-data. Same link should work, if not I will try to make one that does.

Ok, DS0 is easy to achieve, remove the short circuit block JP1 and add a three pin header to the area below it, then you can toggle it between DS0 and DS1 with a regular jumper cap. Alternately just short the middle and bottom one together next to where it says DS0 to make it permanent.

Ready would need some probing around on the board. It might be available in one of the pads near p15/jp2/jp8.

I think I leave it as is, for the moment at least.

I'm waiting for my new glasses to arrive, so before that I will leave it on hold.

I only have a multimeter for probing, and I don't know how to use it.

So will come back to it when glasses has arrived.
