AmiCDFS

Hi Everybody,

I am looking for AmiCDFS any version above 3.06. I have the original disk but unfortunately it is damaged. My HD got toasted on my A3000 so I have to reinstall everything from the scratch back to OS3.9 and I have to get access to my CD-ROM. I tried to run the version 2.4 from the aminet but no luck I can’t mount the CD-ROM. I had the same problem many years ago when I was trying to install the OS3.5 when they came out, at that time I had the older version of AmiCDFS something like v2.2 and didn’t worked so I purchased the v3.06 from Asimware and it worked on first attempt but unfortunately when I am trying to read from the disk this time I receiving read error I tried to clean the floppy head to but no luck. I will appreciate any help I like get my baby back online . Thanks

Happy New Year

Regards,
GuruLala

AmiCDFS and AsimCDFS are two different products. AmiCDFS is shareware and the version 2.40 on Aminet is the latest one. AsimCDFS is a commercial software product. I don't know which is the latest release of it, but 3.06 sounds familiar.

If you need CD access only to install OS3.9, then you could use the demo version of IDEfix97. You can delete it after installation of 3.9.

BTW, why don't you have/use an OS3.9 emergency floppy ?

Yes, you are right I didn’t take attention it says on disk Asim CDFS 3 and the aminet version is AmiCDFS 2.40 . I tried earlier with the Emergency Disk its starts to boot and then ask me to insert OS3.9 when the CD is ready in. I checked the CD at my friends place on 1200 and it works and we made new Emergency Disk with correct Device name and Unit ID and I tried again and no luck I receiving following error message: “AmigaOS3.9:Emergency-Boot/C/Assign Program Failed (error #8000000B) Wait for disk activity to finish” or window with following notification “Please insert volume AmigaOS3.9 in any drive. I tried with different external SCSI CD ROM’s “Yamaha CRW8824S, Pioneer DVD-304S and Teac CD-R58S” all in the different cases and same problems. Advice Please !!!!

Regards,
Loui

Do you have a 68060 and didn't copy 68060.library to the disk ? Or does your firend have a better processor than you ? Emergency disks are not interchangable. The disk has to be created on the system it is for. Or you have to make the necessary changes to the disk manually.

My Configuration: Amiga 3000, A3640, DKB 3128 with 128MB , KS3.1, DMAC 04, Ramsey 07, Buster 11, WD 08, Hard Drive SCSI 4.3GB IBM on ID 0, External SCSI CD-ROM on ID 2 or I can switch to any other ID and I ready listed the types in previous message, A2065, CyberVision 64/3D. I still have the original Emergency Disk made before on my 3000 it makes same errors. I reset my SCSI to default with SetBatt because I change my battery to and sometimes 3000 like to get that stupid amnesia after battery or chip change that happened to me couple years ago when I updated the chip’s.
