Emulator on E Bay
Hi to everyone
I'm just getting back into the amiga scene after many years away and have also just bought a pc. My question centre's round the amiga emulator that is currently on sale on e-bay. The item number is 270618181066 and it is described as coming with 4,000 games. I wondered if fellow members thought this a good emulator and easy for a novice to come to terms with. I would appreciate any advice on this matter Regards to all Grae |

No never buy those things. You can download the newest winuae (google name) Will give you the emulator. Kickstarts again just have a little google around. The games you can get from KG's site:
http://kg.whdownload.com/kgwhd/ (games) pre installed on HD either use on real miggy or winuae. http://www.winuae.net/ emu This is all that comes on those ebay discs, complete rip off. Everything else can be downloaded for free from EAB's fileserver. All for free. http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?...ht=file+server EDIT: Never ask about kickstarts here, but as I said, google is your friend |

According to description, its every piece of amiga software / apps available. He tells you to download the emulator for the WinUAE homepage. How your expected to play the games he supplies is another thing unless he is including the Kickstart roms (which he is not supposed to do). |

Another one of those sellers Don't waste your money on it. Like Jimbo said, it offers nothing some Google searches won't fix. If you really want big packs of games, either get KG's packs or grab some torrents. Won't recommend the file server for this (although it's nice to fill some gaps ). The eBay 'offer' is a complete ripoff.

Yeah slightly dodgy ... esp with his collection of newds that he advertises.
Back to the question of the "emulator" 1) is it any good ? - yes winuae is excellent. Would I buy it here ? no I wouldn't more for moral reasons than anything else - you can download it free as he says. 2) The Games ? - Again, there are some excellent miggy games around that are easily installed and played on Winuae. 3) Other Software - naughty. There is nothing in that "bundle" that isn't available free online if you know where to look. The grey area is as FOL says the Kickstart roms. which are still under copyright. These are however available "honestly" if you buy a real Amiga or Cloanto's Amiga Forever application set which is based around Winuae. |

Sounds like the ultimate Amiga set, I wouldn't buy it as its easy enough to find for download, but the kgwhd pack and the tosec set are basically all you need.

Emulator on E Bay
Thank you to everyone who has replied to my question. As a complete novice I would have bought the emulator off e-bay if it was'nt for your help.
I can promise that after all your helpful comments I will be doing no such thing. And will look into the matter more carefully. This site and the people on it have been tremendously helpful and kind. Thank you all again. Regards Grae |

That 9 disc set does contain the KS roms. Plus all the workbench floppies up to 3.1. I bought it a few years ago.

As are the ROMs and Workbench, but since when did that stop eBay sellers?!
To be fair to them, if (as a buyer) you've more money than you have time, it can be nice and easy to just get everything all ready to plug and play without mucking about. To most of us, the mucking about is the whole point of the exercise, but c'est la vie |

Unfortunately we're not allowed to tell you that the easiest way to obtain ROM's is by torrenting.

Well, someone could mention there are plenty for direct download as well, even sets... but of course I would never do that.
