Last "Boxed" Amiga game you bought
I know there's new boxed games still been made today so list those as well if you like.
Most games back then were passed around pirated copies, but when something special we'd been waiting ages to be released came available, we'd save up and buy it. £30 for a 12 year old back in '93 was a lot of money, but we thought Mortal Kombat would be worth it, (well my mate Steven did anyway). I didn't buy many games until late on when the Amiga Scene was near its end. The Amiga shelf in Electronic Boutique had been demoted to a small stand in the corner. But latest releases were still available. My Last game I bought was either (I can't remember which) Alien Breed 3d2 TKG or Extreme Racing. I do remember the painful copy protection document for Alien Breed though using black ink on glossy black paper. But what was the last (or last 2) Boxed games you bought for your Amiga? |

If you are talking about the final purchases back in the 90s, then I would say Beneath a Steel Sky and Sensible World of Soccer (can't recall which edition) were most likely my last purchases.

The last Amiga game I bought in a shop was Payback, in the summer of 2001 I believe. It was a specialist Amiga shop in Berlin and not a mainstream shop, but still, bought off the shelf in a bricks-and-mortar store. After that, I bought Earth 2140 and Descent: Freespace online later in 2001 or in 2002 maybe. The last game(s) I bought in a mainstream shop were a year or two before that - I bought a re-release of Dune 2, Roadkill and Cannon Fodder 2 in either Electronics Boutique, Game or HMV (the 3 main games stores in Dublin), when the Amiga games were reduced to one stand way down the back.

Well 1995 was the last gaming year of the Amiga for me, the PSX had me hooked with screenshots of Wipeout and Destruction Derby from around June 1995, anything after that didn’t get a look in games wise, of course i still bought Amiga mags for the coverdisks etc for another couple of years.
So my last CD32 games i bought were all released around Feb-May 1995 Super Skidmarks Super Stardust Kingpin Pinball Illusions Speedball 2 Cant recall exactly which one was the last. Last Amiga game also in 1995 was probably F1 World Champ Edition, loved Vroom, then F1, so expected great things so was willing to pay for a boxed copy, sadly made by another developer, turned out bloody awful! |

I don't really remember the last new boxed game I bought back then. But maybe it was "FIFA International Soccer".
A few months ago I bought "Hibernated 1 - This Place is Death". The last boxed (pre-owned) game I got, though, was "Civilization". At last! (some days ago) Last edited by Etze; 29 November 2019 at 11:54. |

My dad bought A320 Airbus for himself, that's probably the last boxed game we had.

I should have been more specific as I meant “New” Boxed game. But it is interesting to hear how people are still buying old software for these 30 year old machines.
For me I realised I was in denial at the time, thinking Amiga would still be saved and brought back to life.. I guess I was a hard-core fan in denial that PC was better than Amiga. A bit like Xbox and Apple Fan boys are today :-b. Imagine if these went under the same way… how big or long would the community be/last in comparison to Commodores? Though back to topic. In connection to the above I realised at around ’96 that the Amiga was a lost cause with my last few game purchases. The single shelf in my local game shop dominated by all the other platforms made me re-think investing more money on it. The last games were great though and I sort of got my money’s worth out of them. Alien Breed 3d2 TKG was my view of the Amiga’s Swan Song, but I’ve got the impression it never was. |
