Did you check an original disk? Who's Level Four? I would guess it's this group: https://demozoo.org/groups/47485/ so it's not a message from the programmer of the game.

Of course it is! Game was coded by MIC/Level 4 (later known as Raw Style).

Thanks for the clarification .

I was only familiar with the coders of the Atari ST version and assumed that they did the Amiga conversion, too.

This is quite nice... I know there was one company that wrote a msg to crackers saying thanks for delaying crack for previous game and they would appreciate the same for the current game.

Hilarious! I think Damian Slee, the coder of Elf, must've been a much better comedian than he was a game coder back in the day as he didn't produce any other games for the Amiga (or any other platform) after that!

But still... Elf is a pretty slick game in my opinion. So for a one-and-you're-done project, not bad at all.

Maybe the guy used a pseudo-name

Again Albedo in track 0:

original french part:
PS: If you found some spelling mistakes in this, that is because we are:
TRanslation of French part:
PS: If you found some spelling mistakes in this, that is because we are:
'French above all'. So for all the pirates in all of France, (God damn it! it feels good to write in French from here) know that we did this version knowing full well that the sales eb France would be insignificant. Indeed, in France, the AMIGA market already reduced to the base, was completely rotten by the big gore pirates from the already moldy environment of Commodore 64. Out of 10 AMIGA owners, there must be 9 who have never purchased an original and have more than fifty pirated copies. And if you realize that there are practically only bad adaptations of ST softs on AMIGA (except ALBEDO), take it out on yourself (why do you want the authors to break their ass to do softs so you don't get anything out of them?

Was just reading some of these on various games I was attempting to save off the original disks for preservation.

The funny thing is - so many of these guys were writing this back in the day "to save jobs and not steal from us" - how many of us would get a pirate copy - try the game out, decide it was shite, and never touch it - OR would find a game we love (PIRATES!, Lemmings, Elite, EliteII, plus many more) and rush out the next day to buy it?

I had about 500 games, and about 100 that I actually purchased, BECAUSE THEY WERE WORTH IT!

The other option on pirating games was the game that, you bought, you played, and a couple weeks/months into the game, the disk fried out and you had no other option than to buy another copy - eff you - I already bought it once, and your crap copy protection stole it back from ME.

Oh, and for what it's worth, I DO programming for money, and I DO have friends who have been in the business since the dark ages (I have crossed swords, IRL, with Lord British - and didn't even know it until later!)

SO, 30 years on, how many times do I go on the YouTube and laugh and laugh at the kids going on about the current crop of AAA games and how much crap is involved with the gaming publishers...

My favorite one was the whole Doom (or was it Quake?) "never release on Amiga" BS... they release the code, boom, on Amiga the next week... but hey, whatever. If they'd released either on Amiga, they'd have made their money and then some.
