Amiga 1200 video color shift?

My first thought, knowing nothing about it really, is "might this be CAPs?"

I was looking at my 1200 again and noticed something that before I assumed was my cheapo SVideo-VGA adapter..
But then I just noticed that it doesn't do it on my Amiga 500...
I tried booting with no startup sequence and then typing loadwb and it's the same color drop.

It's only with the blue, it looks like.
I already have a screenshot from the other thread here:
Notice how the blue starts lower than it should?
Thoughts? Does this sound/look like CAPs?
(I can solder, but I've never done surface mount stuff, so ...)

Thanx,

desiv
p.s. I'll probably find out that it's still my cheapo adapter and it just likes my A500 better. I need to take my 1200 back out to the living room and hook it up to the TV (s-video)..

Apparently it's the cheapo s-video to VGA adapter I bought.

Amigamaniac's adapter to my TV with the same s-video cable is fine.
To the adapter, shifted....
The adapter doesn't shift composite tho, or straight thru VGA (not a surprise there).
Just the s-video and just that one color..

I opened it up and there are no adjustments tho.

I can't believe that super cheapo electronics from China let me down. :-)

Well, in the other thread, everyone agreed that the other adapter (which costs a few bucks less) was better...

Oh well..

Actually, it's not just that one color.
Black, White and Grey seem fine. But as I add color, it shifts down... All the colors are off...

Strange. The adapters I have are the exact same model that Anemos bought off DX :-S Also odd that the issue is only with the S-Video input. Maybe the socket is not right somehow? It's also possible, and likely, that there is variation between units in terms of quality etc. Did you say the VGA adapter worked OK with the A500? If there's something wrong with the VGA adapter, I'd like to fix it (if possible). Failing that, send you another

I didn't get the same adapter you and Anemos have.. I bought mine before I realized the other one existed.
(And the one you guys have is a few dollars cheaper, to rub salt into the wound)

I've tried S-Video from your adapter direct to my TV and that works great (although only NTSC and my TV doesn't like PAL, and my wife doesn't like the Amiga setup in the living room anyway. :-).

So, your adapter works great.

The svideo-VGA adapter I bought, I did so just so I could test it and prove to the Amiga community that they shouldn't but that model!
I did open it up, but didn't see any adjustments.. I'll check the s-video jack on it again to see if I can see something there..

It still works fine for composite tho, so it's not a total loss.. I have plenty of composite systems I can use it with. ;-) And, for some reason, I have more VGA monitors than TVs..

Oh, that's a relief, I thought that you bought the VGA adapter from me

I discovered that the VGA adapters I am selling are not the same as the ones Anemos and I bought - even though I bought it from the same supplier (not DX). Opening it up, it looks like a newer version with fewer ICs, and the OSD menu is different (much easier to use) and looks better. There are higher resolutions available too. Comparing the picture quality from the old VGA adapter to the new one, I think the new one looks better It also seems to run cooler than the old one, which is a bonus!

Oh yeah, rub it in...
I seem to be the only one who managed to buy the BAD model!
