Your preferred version of Deluxe Paint
Hi all, I am busy putting an article together for Amiga Addict on Deluxe Paint IV and I want to include a section on what version people preferred. I would love to hear why you like that version you do in the comments.

I think there are both ECS and AGA versions of DPaint4
I had DPaint II with my A500 but couldn't believe when my friend brought up the Animation menu on his Amiga he had an A500+ and it came with DPaint III. |

DPaint v4.6 is AGA. Does not create OCS images correctly, so I have installed bott 4.03 (ECS) and 4.6 (AGA).

Umm.. DPaint IV came out before AGA was released. Then came an AGA version, probably v4.5. I used that and 4.6 alot. 4.6 was very stable and fast. v5 had some new features that I didnt really use that much AREXX support but it felt slower and buggier, so it sort of peaked at 4.6 |

There are two versions of DPaint 4. More info here
https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php...ght=DPaint+aga Or from my own experience iirc use non-AGA version on A1200 to create 32colour etc images or you'll have problems. |

Just to clear things up. There is two versions of DPaint 4. Version 4 which is ECS only and a later 4.5 which is AGA. I own both versions. Apologies for not making that clear.

DP5 is my favourite since it has the best pressure sensitive graphics tablet support. It is a bit sluggish on anything other than a 040/060 but the feature set is second to none! I have successfully done 256 colour animations on it using well chosen palettes!

That is very interesting. Did you use the tablet drivers from Trimedia and the Calcomp tablet?

I must give that a try myself. I did notice on a version that I downloaded from Turrans that any old image I loaded was stretched vertically by almost double. It did not do it on my 4.5 version though.

Iirc it uses the AGA palette so say you converted a 256 image to 32 colour. Then load it on a classic chipset you may not get the results you expected because its 32 colours with the AGA palette.
