Has anyone used Mac AirPort PCMCIA cart on amiga 1200? Can be forced to work or my friend will have to buy dedicated one?

I don't know. I ask my friend but probably he does not have such information.

No drivers exist, but if it is a 5V PCMCIA card, then it is maybe possible to write drivers for it. Then again, these are not as common or as handy as prism2 based cards (the airport cards require external antennas), so writing the drivers might not be a very tempting project for anyone else.

Original AirPort card is actually prism2 comaptible, so it will work with driver from AmiNET

A comprehensive compatibility list can be found at:
http://www.g-mb.de/pcmcia_e.html The Apple Airport cards are not listed, so it will depend on whether it uses a prism2 chipset or not. |

Even though it's a Prism-II card, it won't work with prism2.device, because it's not a true PCMCIA card. Apple modified these cards to prevent them working in PC laptops, apparently because they were cheaper than standard wireless cards at the time.
IIRC I tried using one in my A1200, but it wasn't recognised by the OS. Maybe someone could get it to work by physically removing the electronic modification made to the card, but it probably wouldn't be worth the effort. Also, these cards are equivalent to the Orinoco cards, which aren't WPA2 capable and have a firmware bug that makes them incompatibile with many modern routers. FWIW, they are indeed 5V and 16 bit. |

This is it. That's the only information he has.
