Gvp 4060 + a4000?
I have a GVP 4060 rev2 accelerator with 128MB that I'm trying to get working with an A4000 revB with 18MB & OS3.1 ROMs.
The A4000 boots with an A3640 rev2 installed. I have a CF-drive with OS3.1 attached. The A4000 won't boot with the GVP 4060. Does anyone have the correct jumper configuration for the 4060 & A4000? I found some info on BBoAH but not default settings for jumpers. I don't have any SCSI attached yet but would like to use it and still keep the primary boot CF-Drive on the IDE bus. No other expansion cards are installed yet. I'm trying to rebuild the working system one piece at a time. Thanks. |

I tried removed the RAM from the 4060 but the A4K still won't boot.
Current Jumper Settings Are: JP1 - ON JP2 - OFF JP4 - ON JP5 - OFF JP6 - OFF JP7 - OFF JP8 - 2-3 JP9 - 2-3 JR1 - ON JR2 - OFF JR3 - ON JR4 - ON JR5 - ON JR6 - ON JR7 - OFF JR8 - OFF There are a few jumpers that aren't listed on any docs that I've found yet. JP3 - 3pin near the center of the 4th SIMM socket, currently set to 1-2 JP10 - 3pin next to JP5 near the SCSI socket, currently set to 1-2 A4K motherboard clk jumpers are both set to EXT. I swapped the A4060 out for the A3640, no other changes, and the system boots right up. |

I can't find any info relating to the settings for the A4K CLK jumpers when using the GVP 4060. I assumed they would be EXT, that's what the A3640 requires.
But if I change them to INT, the A4K will boot from floppy with the 4060 installed. ShowConfig says I have a 68040 installed with 128MB of RAM in addition to the 18MB on the mobo. I have not installed any GVP 4060 libraries so I'm guessing that's why an 040 is being reported. When I try booting from my OS3.1 install on the CF-card, the system just does a Software Failure, reboots & repeats Software Failure. I haven't worked that part out yet. Why does it work with the A4K CLK jumpers set to INT? Is that going to cause other problems or is that the way it should be for the GVP 4060 rev2? Anyone have a PDF of the manual for this accelerator? |

Don't have this accelerator, so can't help you there.
But if you have a 060, you need the 060 libraries installed,or os3.1 won't boot. |

Ok then. The 4060 might the same as the T-REX 4040 regarding the mobo CLK jumpers.
I found this website with some info: http://www.gregdonner.org/gvp4060/gvp4060.html but not everything I'm looking for. The manual section just has jumper info, not a complete manual. Is this the overclocking website that you're thinking of? http://members.iinet.net.au/~davem2/amiga.html Now I need to dig up my floppy with the 4060 install stuff and work out why things are crashing when booting from the CF card. |

I downloaded the GVP 4060 install DMS, made a new floppy, performed the install, and the system now boots successfully into OS3.1 from the CF-IDE drive.

Just FYI, there is a modified ROM out there for the gvp 4060DT so they will work with SFS/PFS filesystems, they will only work with FFS otherwise.

Gvp 4060 + a4000?
Yes the jumpers have to be to INT. And yes SysInfo reports an 060 at an 040 as the program was created before the 060's existed. There is a new SysInfo v4.0 out now that reports 060's now.

Where can I get a modified ROM for the 4060?
On a drive related issue, I'm trying to set up a CDROM on this A4K's IDE bus. The CF-IDE is working fine. I'm using OS3.1 and don't want to upgrade to 3.9 just yet. I downloaded amicdfs240.lha from aminet. Did the install, and checked it twice, but CDs aren't showing up yet. Any suggestions for an OS3.1 environment? Thanks. |

http://www.doobreynet.co.uk/amiga.html It's the gvp tekscsi patch. I dont have the patched rom anymore since i got rid of the 4060dt long ago,but you may ask around. I believe you read out the eprom code, patch it then make a new eprom . You might want to contact him direct and ask to be sure. |

That's it. The 2060/4060 only automount FFS partitions--other filesystems work, but you can't boot from them. It's worth the hassle if you like PFS, huge decrease in boot time, practical performance is much better. The GURU-ROM was adapted for these boards, sadly the chances of it being released are probably next to nothing. |

I installed asimcdfs3.1 and it sees the drive but doesn't acknowledge any discs inserted. I can open/close the drive but that's about it. Maybe IDEFIX will work better.
I think I have another IDE drive that I can try if I don't get this one working. I don't have the equipment for making eproms. On the SCSI side, I attached a hotswap SCSI-CF RaizinMonster in the lower floppy bay. I formatted a Kingston 4GB card with 2 FFS partitions. I'm going to see if I can use this with MovieShop for audio/video partitions. |

ASIMCDFS does NOT work with the IDE. You need IDEFix 97, you can get it registered by searching for the key on Google.

I'm trying to install IDEFix 97. I got through the installation process but the system hangs on booting. If I comment out the IDEfix lines in the startup-sequence, it boots fine.
The install placed the IDEfix lines at the head of the startup-sequence. I tried moving them after the setpatch lines. It will do the setpatch and then hang as soon as it get to C:IDEfix. Should I re-install or do something else? |

During the original install, it get to a point and asks about starting IDEfix now. If I do that, the computer hangs. To get through the install, I need to say "no" at that point.
FindDevice does list the drive under atapi.device What should the options for FileSystem->Controller Configuration look like? I'm going with the default that only has "Use Diskchange Interrupt" selected. After the reinstall, IDEFix still hangs if I leave it in the startup-sequence. |

Try this:
> To make IDEfix work as a solution for the 4GB problem, after it is installed, you have to edit s:startup-sequence and replace C:IDEfix by C:LoadIDE RESET. |
