Indivision AGA or HDMI adaptor?
Hi all,
So I am a little confused on exactly what the Indivision AGA does apart from giving flicker free higher resolution. Is this overcoming a hardware limitation in the A1200? Reason I ask, there is RGB to HDMI converters on Ebay for a fourth of the cost of an Indivision AGA board. I've run my laptop (which has a HDMI port) into my TV at all sorts of resolutions and it looks good. Would the A1200 still look ok at higher resolutions too via an RGB to HDMI converter (which doesn't upscale BTW)? Or is the A1200 video hardware not really up to it? Thanks |

It de-interlaces to produce flicker free pictures with interlaced Amiga screen modes. It scan rate converts from 50Hz to 60Hz+ to make it compatible with LCD monitors. It improves some gfx modes such as HighGfx If you are asking if Indivision A1200 is some sort of gfx card which adds modes not possible on AGA alone, I think the answer is no. But I am not an Indivision expert. Quote:

Depends what you mean by "higher resolutions". |

Thanks Alex,
On the price, I do live by the saying that you get what you pay for. If you look on EBay you will find plenty of RGB to HDMI converter boxes for about 45 GBP (might be total junk), so yeah my 1/4 price estimate was way off, for some reason I thought the Indivision A1200 was near 200. As for the resolutions, I wasn't talking like PC style 1920 x 1080 or anything, just a few steps up from what the A1200 normally runs at, which I've already tried on my normal TV though the composite video out and it was dreadful (the flicker!) |
