How do you decide which games/installs get restricted to registered'ers?
I thought I might as well ask. I tried to determine whether there was a pattern to it but I couldn't notice any.
Popularity of game? Coin toss? Every tenth slave? Et cetera. |

Yeah, my question was kind of aimed at the authors in general.

Lmao. Came, went, bought the t-shirt buddy!
I bet I'm not far off in thinking 98% of this board's population are registered'erererers now, right? |

Registering WHDLoad was the single best software investment I've ever made in my Amiga and given how little the registration fee was, it was a hell of a deal.

The main reason is blocking people on best games, or even adding some neat routines
that were not existing at first. You want them so you register. it's a good point that some slaves are only for registered users. Support whdload author and all our dear coders out there for their work. |

It is a matter of personal choice I am afraid. If it was my decision, I'd block them all, so it gets registered, you cheap ass unregistered pukes ;P
Wow, Marz posts back here too? Is 2009 the EAB oldschoolers' revival year? Wanna talk about Robot Wars, Marz? |

Perhaps we should be glad the program isn't a solely commercial-only affair eh chums?
And not 98% huh? Bit surprising seeing as we've had a decade and a bit to promote it to heck. Amiga.org not assisting, or are they too scared of the prospect of "Teh Pyrats!!!" amassing huge WHDLoad-flavoured collections for publicity? |

No pattern? Not even that one slave author puts more restrictions in than the other? Maybe Wepl tells them when it's time to put some in

It's completely the install authors choice.
I restricted some of my installs because it took a lot of time to create them. |

The first thing I did when my 1200 arrived was to buy a Whdload license . It's cheap and it's one of the best apps you can have in your amiga. Whdload + iGame, the perfect combination.

Yes, some installs required a lot of work, and yes it sounds normal to me.
while you can play most games, the best liked, or even wanted need registering. |

I believe that if they had of blocked everything it would have pushed people into obtaing cracked/pirate copies to be able to play.
The way it is now is perfect. You still get to play and only have to watch the splash screen or register for selected games. Once you've used it for a while you realise what an awesome piece of software it is and register it. |

Yeah it basically costs peanuts to register and it's almost like putting your fingers up to all those that have made it what it is if you don't - that is of course if you do use the program regularly enough
Also isn't there a way perhaps more Amiga users could be made aware of the joys of WHD.It was some 3 years or so using emulation and hanging around here before i even understood what WHD was - imagine my joy at seeing some 3000 or games were now hd The concept of WHD was alien to me to even think what it was supposed to be and i bet many people too wont know.Bear in mind Amiga users will generally only think Amiga games are on floppy, adf I'd bet a fair few more people would register if they even knew what it was Wepl, though obviously that's probably still a large number that wouldn't out of that Last edited by Adropac2; 03 September 2009 at 22:59. |

It is an awesome thing, and was one of my early purchases - once I tried it out and saw how awesome it was. Again, once I knew about whdload and whdownload it was the obvious choice - at first I'd been using my (quite large) adf library and writing to floppies when required lol. Nice work wepl, and all you whdload installers :-D
