I used to use WordWorth, but it's more than just a text editor.

AFAIK the famous CygnusED is not freeware but there's a good alternative : EdWordPro http://www.ai.sri.com/~reddy/edword/

Janoeditor!

Great for non-power users. Just the right amount of features (including Macro recording) and looks like a normal classic shell window.

I quite like Interword - was given away free on a coverdisk too!

I've always found BED (Blacks Editor) to be useful.

Edword used to be my favourite, but now it's Microgolded (GoldEd got a little too bloated).

See screenshot of my A500 Microgolded setup. (had to load config in WinUAE to take the screenshot - screenshot can't capture rainbow background on real A500)

I use Cygnus Editor aswell... Incredibly quick and powerful, handles any file you can throw at it - what more would you want?

Thanks for all the input. Has anybody here ever tried Emacs-19.25? Is it any good?
I used to use Emacs at uni and it was superb for text editing.

Yeah man use Cygnus ED, but don't get that version that only allows editing of files 5k or less ?!?

or if you are editing C, I would recommend Memacs in the Tools drawer on the Workbench: partion.

That's sad. Download it somewhere else or update your archiving software. IMHO GoldED is the best text editor for amiga.
