I went from c64 to the ST and I loved the machine despite some obvious differences that I was used to from my C64 like smooth scrolling and better sound. Ended up really enjoying the hell out of it though regardless and I have very fond memories. Many years later I ended up with 6 machines as you do when retro nostalgia kicks in
Did eventually upgrade to the Amiga around 88 I think and that was a very special day. Back when machines felt entirely different from each other |

I swear their was a thread where someone was putting an Amiga in an Atari ST case - I think it was in OFF-Topic though?

Shoonay has the uncanny ability to remember everything that was ever posted at any time. I don't remember something like that passing through OT myself, but my brain has a mind of it's own.

I think Atari ST is far from the worst thing ever. There's loads of fun to be had, not to mention that it was an excellent and cheap choice for music production as a MIDI sequencer.
Do I think it's better than Amiga though? Not at all. |

In 1985 the Amiga 1000 was the best option, the second best option was a 520ST at 60% lower price, the worst two systems were PC and Mac. In 1987-88 on my desk I had a PC XT class RM Nimbus PC, a 520STM and Amiga 1000. A Mac is nothing more than a broken Atari ST stuck in mono mode for $4000 more for losers. PC DOS command line user interface is inferior to a VIC-20 for a start.......... Lotus II on the ST is better than any PC XT or Mac mono racing game. Get a grip and grow up please. |

Happy Birthday, Atari! 50 years, wey hey. Love or hate them, there's no denying they left a huge mark on both the gaming and computing industry.
