Unhappy A1200 large HDD

Hi to all
I have a stock A1200 with 3.0 roms running WB 3.1, I am trying to use a 40gb IDE laptop drive which I have set up on winuae, set up the same as my A1200.
Under winuae the drive is set up as follow
40gb partitioned into 4
1st partition 1gb FFS (DH0)
2nd partition 12gb PFS3
3rd partition 12gb PFS3
4th partition 10gb PFS3
Rest of the drive is not used.
I have setup WB3.1 running betterWB on DH0 and under winuae boots great and I can use all the other partitions runs perfectly.
However when I install the harddrive in my A1200 it boots just fine but the other partitions are seen but aren't usable NOS, can't format them at all.
HDtools is set correctly.
What am I doing wrong it's driving me mad.... please help..

No, one detail was missing: you should have changed the controller from UAE to IDE, then emulation would have been accurate and you would have seen the same symptoms on WinUAE.

There is a 4GB limit in AmigaOS. You cannot use larger harddrives without special drivers.

You will find more information there: https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=61666

You might consider upgrading to 3.2, both ROM and OS. Will make things much easier.

Remember that OS3.2 does not including in its ROM(S) workbench.library and icon.library. So if you still want to use the OS you have now, you will need to copy those 2 files over onto the HDD

You can also loadmodule a newer version of scsi.device (look for v43.45) which will add large drive support. I ran my A1200 like this for ages with 3.1 ROMs and an 80Gb HDD. Eventually I used Remus to make a custom ROM with the updated scsi.device inside.
