PPaint bugs with WinUAE

@Toni
Some issues with PPaint 7.x...
there are some problems using Z3 RTG Picasso and PPaint in RTG mode:

Strange outside borders appear following mouse height after you open some pics filling all 8bit palette…

Repro steps:
  1. run PPaint
  2. load pic Gable_06.jpg
  3. RMB on the AREXX script (crown icon in PPaint on the left)
  4. move around AREXX scripts requester and then close it
at this point you should see the strange bands following mouse…

Since it's a quite complex config env… I've sent you a PM with boot-ready set-up, need just to boot and follow repro steps (don't even need to modifiy HD setup since in SSeq it checks for missing drives to skip errors).

It is always possible this is normal. It needs confirming if same happens using emulated RTG board using same resolution.
EDIT: Make sure all blitter options in PPaint are disabled and not forced on.

The horizontal "color clash" extends also over the picture/UI, not only in the borders… it's like a missing layer of color bits, re-applied when moving mouse up/down horizontally.
Everything is correctly set in PPaint.

It's not present using old WinUAE 2.5.1... Would be of any help to find the version when it started?

Where is a guide to set up Picasso IV Z3 board emu? I've always used Z3 RTG with DEVS:Monitors/uaegfx

I won't help when it happens exactly like on real hardware

It starts to show up that glitch with 3.6.1. Up to 3.6.0 winuae.exe is ok.

Naah, it's not a PPaint issue but looks like something in the emulation…
BTW, happens also in DX9.

You can quickly replicate it with my mini-boot env in PM.

Narrow it down to specific beta, thanks.

I meant installing the gfx board software works exact same as in real world.

Installed P96 http://aminet.net/package/driver/video/Picasso96 from Aminet using installer, selected RTG Board > any of the Picasso boards… but from WB can't find gfx card.

The problem starts with 3.6.1b1

EDIT: reading carefully changelog I noticed: "- Implemented experimental RTG mode background thread for Amiga side VRAM to host texture color space conversion/copy. Option in RTG Board panel.", so I deselected RTG board: Multithreaded and bingo! Unchecked solves the problem.

Does the board appear in tools/showconfig or sysinfo output? (or any other program that lists expansion devices)

Thanks. Perfect trouble shooting

Should be fixed now.

It happened only in paletted mode and only if palette change happens simultaneously while other thread is refreshing the display (which is almost guaranteed to happen because requester is going away and then palette is changed almost immediately), palette change triggered full screen refresh was unreliable.

Great!
Should that option improve RTG performance?

Picasso IV? It needs a ROM image. It is very special kind of RTG board.

It should help when screen is continuously updating.

I'm not able to configure it... LOL
The card (tried Picasso II and IV variants) doesn't show up in Screenmode.
Not a real problem though since I need Z3 RTG with a lot of vram.

EDIT: I started a specific thread asking for help.
