Virtual Amiga recommended screen size

Hey Amigans,

On the default WinUAE virtual startup, the Amiga desktop is really small. The windows are crammed and dragging files between them is a chore.
I want to have a larger "Virtual Desktop" so I can configure things better. What are some optimal screen display settings to have a roomier area?

It depends on a couple of things, but personally I like to use WinUAE's virtual graphics card and have a Workbench screen the size of the PC's native display. To do that you need to install Picasso96, and the emulated Amiga needs to meet the prerequisites for that (e.g. '020 CPU, OS 3). Aside from that, you can use other native screenmodes - the simplest option is to use interlace and set the overscan preferences to the maximum.

Install Picasso96.lha from aminet. then after installing that reboot your amiga and go into system, prefs, screenmode. Select 1280x720 UAE.

Thats going to be the best screen size and it's the default selected by CoffinOS.

Another tip is to go into your UAE settings and change the default screen resolution to the same, otherwise it might mess your font appearance up - Something that always annoys me with UAE and Amiga Forever.

It depends on what I am doing. I do run 1920 x 1080 Picasso modes for all my productivity tasks. Not all applications support it though. At that point I run PAL Hires with 2x integer scaling. In both cases I like to run with a mask to give a suggestion of a CRT display.

with winuae I stayed on what I had on my Amiga 2000 in rtg mode in 1024*768 without trying to go higher

For me.. i usually use 1280x800 full color mode in WinUAE/a500mini. For the A500 Mini is 720p the maximum.

In Emulation it runs on 040+fpu

If u use Aminimiga as "WB" Sampler then u have allmost all u need
