Restoring A2000

Hello.

I write this post to show the restoration of my A2000.

The machine was abandoned in a warehouse by its previous owner. The battery was sulfated and had rust.
Some photos:

In this photo we can see the front of the case, where he made a hole to put the power button. Sheet metal where the motherboard is housed, is also seen quite rusty.

In these pictures we can see the general state how was the motherboard. Note the rust on the connectors, stains sulfate in some chip.

In these pictures we can see the motherboard repaired and Sheet metal painted to look better.

The Amiga 2000 motherboard revision is 6.3. It also includes a Megachip.
The problems that the motherboard had:
When you turn on the machine, red screen (power LED light blinking 10 times and 1 long) then yellow screen (again blinking LED).
The red screen was because the U801 M6242b chip was damaged.
The yellow screen was because one of the tracks that goes from Fat Agnus to 74F244 (CASL, CASU, RAS0, RAS1) was giving problems. The track was sulfated and was producing noise.

Now work

Soon I will upload more pictures.

Thanks a lot for sharing Franchute.

I think your post would look better if you use thumbnails though. You can get them if you upload your photos to Hostthenpost and then you just have to paste the links here. Also your links or take a while to open or don't open here.

Just my opinion.

I always like it when someone gets one of those rusted motherboards running again.
Good job.
