HELP with winUAE and 64b win7.

Hi, im hoping one of you can help with a major problem.
Im trying to get winUAE working with 64b windows 7.

Its installs ok, but when i open it, the GUI flashes and doesnt seem to update properly. If I change paths it flashes between the old and new paths and is all pretty much crashed.

I thought it could be graphics card issue but it does the same via RDP.
It wont read the kickstart disks I bought eather, even though i use the rom.key in the same directory but that could be a different issue.

Does anyone else have the same glitch, can it be solved, or do i just go back to 32b.

Thanks in advanced.

Steve

Hi Steve and welcome to EAB!

Not sure what you mean with 'flashes between the old and new paths', but have to tried to install it outside of program files? Install it to C:\WinUAE for example and see if that works.

It is guaranteed to have nothing to do with 64-bit. (I have been using all 64-bit desktop Windows versions since XP 64-bit)

Using RDP does not (anymore) confirm anything.

HELP with winUAE and 64b win7

Ah ok ill try another graphics card maybe.

Ive tried it outside its normal directory, also tried different versions.

when i say "flashes between the old and new paths" what i mean is:

If i open the gui, its like the refresh rate is 1 frame per min. If i choose any menu It doesnt change unless i wave the mouse pointer in front clearing the old menu. Even then it flashes between old frames.

Everything else works ok, but it does look like a graphics issue.
What ever it is, it causes winuae to crash alot, im yet to run a game as it wont read the kickstarts. (They work on another machine)..

My investigation continues.

Please attach winuaebootlog.txt. It is guaranteed to have nothing to do with 64-bit Windows but it does not guarantee it is not winuae bug
(highly unlikely but..)

Try downloading display driver from nvidia.com. (Windows built-in drivers should of course work but I wouldn't trust them )

Give up

I just cant understand it. Ive installed all the latest drivers now, ive changed all hardware apart from the hard drives and PSU, and ive installed a different version of windows 7 64b.

The problem is weird and ive made a video of it.
Games work, web works, nothing else glitches, ive even run 3dmark with good results.

Ive seen it run fine on a win 7 64bit laptop so i know its something im doing, just cant work out what.

Do you get similar behavior if you use keyboard to change gui panels? (left click on tree view, cursor up/down + alt or shift)

I have WinUAE running on several systems with Win7 and also 64Bit (Desktop PC, Notebook and so on)...
Sometimes the problem is not the application, but some of the Windows base or needed functions ..like .Net Framework or JRE and son.
