IMHO Joystick are not good to play with multiple buttons.
Joypad instead are excellent for this purpose.

Are we referring to the 3rd button implementation that appeared (recently ?) in some whdload slaves ?

I went nuclear on my unit so that C is up, A is fire2, and Start is fire3.

Because in pretty much all Sega games jump is in C and special is in A, so the old brain needs no re-adjustments.

Of course the pad is for Amiga only use now, but life is life, and it is worth it. Some WHDLoad slaves can even use the third fire / middle mouse button.
