Need help locating v6.6 or earlier A590 ROMs
Hi All,
I usually lurk over on another forum, but haven't gotten much help with this issue. I've got an A590 I'm tinkering with, and a few years ago I reflashed the EPROMs to v7 to work with a large SCSI drive. I backed up the original ROM image but that was lost on an un-backed hard disk a few years ago. I thought nothing of it as the original XT drive had a stuck stepper motor and wouldn't read. I've had an interest in getting it running with the original XT drive for a little fun as I've managed to service it to some degree and have gotten it to start seeking again. Unfortunately, the old resources I got the v7 ROM from a while ago have been removed as the ROMs are being licenced again, I believe by Cloanto. I have had trouble locating a source for the old v6.6 or earlier ROMs, including an attempt to contact Cloanto to purchase a personal licence for them. Is anyone able to help me locate either: the ROM files, Original EPROMs, or a contact to obtain a legal licenced download of a v6.6 or earlier A590 ROM? |

Does v7 not support XT drives? I thought it did.
If you just want to play around, the 590/2091 install disk includes a BindDrivers version of 6.6, the caveat being that you’ll have to disable autoboot and use a boot floppy. And I think 6.6 images are floating around in the expansion_boot_roms.zip archive that complements WinUAE. |

I've uploaded V6.6 ROMs to The Zone. The file is called A2091_v6.6.rar but the A590 and the A2091 are essentially the same card and use the same ROMs

Thank you both for your replies.
Vypr, I seem to be having an issue with the file you uploaded. WinRAR gives an error stating that the file is damaged or an unknown format. I have tried downloading multiple times as well. Matt, thanks for your suggestion. I might just grab the full version of Amiga Forever and get the full OS/ROM files if they're in the expansion ROMs provided. |

It's probably on your side - no problems as I WinRarred them. (WinRAR from 2014...)

Thanks for the help all! Managed to find an FTP with old Zone files that had an old copy of the expansion_boot_roms zip folder. They worked a treat, managed to get 3.1 installed on the old 20MB XT disk with a little set up.

@Matt H
I think that XT drives support was removed to put big drives support in v7. @Vypr Those v6.6 ROMs are identical to v6.6 in expansion_boot_roms.zip on EAB FTP. A590_A2091-390721-02-v6.6.bin = A2091_V6.6_U13.BIN A590_A2091-390722-02-v6.6.bin = A2091_V6.6_U12.BIN Last edited by Tomislav; 14 June 2021 at 11:47. |
