HELP - Need mask for chip Mem

So I think - with the help of the guys over on the Apollo IRC - I found the root of my GVP + Vampire issues.

The GVP is DMA and the Vampire ram is not.

I can't disable DMA for the GVP but I can tell it (via MASK) what memory address to use. So I need the MASK entry for A500 chip ram in order to test. I've searched google but can't find anything.

can any of you tell me what the MASK should be set to in HDToolBox for CHIP ram only access? I have 1MB chip.

Theoretically, this could allow my GVP SCSI controller and the vampire baord to play nice together.

Then I think mask should be $000FFFFF.

But won't that then consume really precious Chip RAM?

I found this in the manual -

Mem: Type of memory that the buffers are allocated from. &either
fast or chip, C~Chip, F~Fast. Do not use Fast unless there will always be
Fast memory available!

But it didn't fix my issue. Looks like I'll have to ditch the GVP controller

@Akira - yes it will, I just wanted to see if it would get the GVP controller and Vampire to play nice together but it didn't.

Ah, that sucks man. But, even if it did, you don't want buffers eating up your Chip RAM. It will lead to lots of things not running. One of the best advantages of an accelerator with Fast RAM is being able to put those buffers in it. If you can't, might as well change your storage medium.

My GVP Series II HC+8 was working fine with Vampire on one of the Pre-Gold 2 builds, it actually was very close to the theoretical maximum that Ralph Babel cites, but it has been broken since official Gold 2.

Oh, that sucks more. I'd rather have it never work then have it break later on. geeze. well, I'm not going to sweat it any longer. I'll keep the controller and SCSI2SD boxed up until I decide to either sell it or get another A500.
