Slow WinUAE
Hi,
Today I found the world of old Amiga Emulators! Brinign back all my childhood memories I've downloaded the latest version of WinUAE and want to install Workbench on to a virtual hard disk. I've been following the setup instructions from http://www.lemonamiga.com/?mainurl=h...torial_1/1.php My problem is that it takes about 5 mins to load Workbench from floppy, then when I am in Workbench and trying to install it on to the hard disk everything runs very very slowly.... around 2-3 fps! I'm sure I have a setting wrong in the config, but I set it up exactly to that guide I linked. My PC has 4gb of ram, an Inter Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz and 800gb of hard disk space, so I can't see it having a problem running this. Any suggestions? |

Select "Expanded WinUAE example configuration" from the Quickstart menu, then go to RAM and increase the Z3 RAM slider. Should be all you need to do.
If you insist on manual configuration, make sure that - CPU is set to "Fastest possible", with JIT enabled. - on the Chipset page "cycle exact" is disabled - floppy speed is set to max - filter setttings are disabled - on the Misc page try all settings for "display buffers" and keep the fastest one. - on the Priority page try different settings. It might be surprising, but for some configurations (especially when using Windows directories as hard drives) "below normal" gives better results than "above normal". |

Even without JIT it won't be _that_ slow..
Attach winuaebootlog.txt and winuaelog.txt (remember to tick logging checkbox in misc-panel) |
