smartfilesystem and os3.9

Will the smartfilesystem work on os3.9 harddrives?
As i am getting disk validation errors with the fastfilesystem.
I believe the smartfilesystem does not need to validate disks is that correct?

If SFS works is all i need to do is to add it to the harddisk rdb?

Yes for the first two questions. No for the third. You need to quickformat your partitions. So a backup is a good idea.

If your FFS partitions get corrupted for some reason, your SFS partitions will get currupted, too, for the same reason. SFS might look more stable at the first glance but once it is corrupted, it's more serious than with FFS and data loss is more likely.

You should first find out why your partitions corrupt and correct the cause, before you convert to SFS.
