Amiga development systems (pre-Amiga launch)

Does anyone know anything of the early Amiga development systems?

I know of the D-044 development system listed on the BBOAH: https://bigbookofamigahardware.com/b...t.aspx?id=2007

I have received this message:

i've got an amiga development machine d-098, wooden keyboard, ram stack and all. sun 2 as well. want it?
I don't know where they are located, and I'm worried about it potentially getting damaged during transit. But having said that, I would really like to get this if at all possible, that is if this is legit, of course. I'd love to have such an important part of Amiga history.

I know it wouldn't be able to run pretty much any Amiga software, and my understanding is that if it were to even be powered up, it would need to communicate with the Sun 2 system. And of course I wouldn't even consider powering up such a system, not without getting an expert to check it.

But does anyone know anything more about these?

Super cool, definitely get them. Make sure to make flux dumps of the media you get with these. :-D

The D-044 and D-098 are serial numbers, not model numbers. They can be similar, but they can also be quite different. It will be interesting to see.

Yes, I know D-044 and D-098 are the serial numbers for the development systems, and yes, absolutely, I'd be doing flux dumps of any and all media. I understand and respect how important these are to Amiga history and even computer history.

Also make sure to make high quality images of the boards.

I would love to see these emulated in MAME or WinUAE.

If the sun 2 is part of the development environment it would be really nice to see what dev tools / compilers / debuggers it may still have installed along with any unix tools to download programs to the Amiga.

Sing out if you need any help recovering files from a sun 2.

It's a crime not to get it!
