It's a Knockout! 2019/20 Quarter Final: Deluxe GalAGA

Rules

Post a picture of your score here with the score written underneath. Enter as often as you like. Only scores achieved during the round's time frame count.

You must use the latest version of Deluxe Galaga AGA (v2.6, full version) - links below.

You must have these options set in your config:

Money bonus in meteorstorm_______________[YES]
Money limit______________________________[UNLIMITED]
Level limit______________________________[UNLIMITED]
Ship Armour______________________________[YES, PLEASE!]
Cash Sucker______________________________[YES]

To set these hold down left-mouse button while loading the game. But they are default settings anyway so you shouldn't have to do anything.

Play in NORMAL difficulty.

For this round AUTO-/RAPID-FIRE IS NOT ALLOWED as it is a power-up in the game!

Lifeschool had the idea to limit the effect of money-ships which is why we have another rule:

YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO DESTROY 3 MONEY SHIPS PER PLAY!

Play to level 76, show your high score table here if you get that far!

No cheating of any kind (including score leeching) - this includes save states. No continues/passwords allowed. If you suspect anyone of cheating please let us know in private - anyone found guilty will be banned.

Remember, anyone can join in at any time. Have fun and feel free to ask any questions you may have.


Secret Knowledge and Tips

Let the flying saucer pass 7 times in level 1 and 2 (also some later levels) to make the money ship appear (you need to keep one alien alive to do this) - this will give you a huge head-start.

I believe you can beat lifeschool. His 17M is a good score, but in 2012 premisseth scored 83M and four more players showed scores from 24-65M: http://www.lemonamiga.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9962

It's all about the money so you can buy a strong weapon, extra bullets, autofire and armor. Then you can start amassing points. This game isn't much about skill, it's more about knowing its special rules and planning.

They're good but Plasma ($990) is significantly stronger - especially if you also buy autofire.

You could wait for the money ship to appear in levels 1 and/or 2. It'll give you a nice headstart. But it's also tedious and not much fun.

But you are right, waiting for it, is (I wouldn't say "not much fun", would better say) boring

Ah okay. Yeah the money it contains differs. Sometimes you get a lot of blue coins and then can get 1.5k which is enough for Plasma+autofire+speed+extra bullets.

Got promoted from Admiral to Ensign shortly before I went game over. The "only 3 money ships"-rule is quite crippling.

Here is mine for tonight : 2'486'605.
Got the money ship in the beginning and then was able to kill a "money broom".
There are a lot of malus when you have nice weapons (had the second last weapon + autofire + more bullets). Lost my gear/equipment (got a "sucker" malus by avoiding enemy fire, and then got a "single shoot"). Then it was "I avoid" and I get finger cramps from pushing the fire button .
