tosec iso contribution
hello,
i'm currently adding lots of CD images to back2roots.org, quite some which are not in toseciso.org yet. imho the best moment to contribute to tosec is while i mount the stuff on the FTP in unpacked format. in this moment i can hash the cue/bin, and the iso it contains. i would like to share crc/md5 of stuff i currently handle, it would not take much extra time to post the hashes here and provide a temporary link to the inner and outer files i currently work on. last 2 days i touched about 20 donated cue/bins from originals, tomorrow we start imaging another 25. currently about 70 CDs are online, looking at toseciso i GUESS we have licenses for about 25% of all material in there and many for stuff not yet in there. we should make something of these facts... our new server is pretty fast so i can write some niced script to handle the ~70 to make outer and inner crc and md5 sums of it (takes long anyway, but doesnt need interaction) the rest i'll start to hash things while i work on them and share it here if there is interest. let me know what you think, thanks, ralf ps: inner=iso, outer=bin, far outer=zip ;-) |

Toseciso is (IMHO) a mess... "Download current dats" ok but for which tools? CLRMamePro? RomCenter? TIM? Are there downloads of anything bar CUE files there or not?

hippie200:
We only accept images in the required formats (there is a Wiki guide linked at toseciso.org) taken directly from the original discs with full information regarding the serial codes, contributer etc. So if you got all that, then sure...if not, then we'll politely decline (even though in a large number of cases the actual BIN file would be the same checksum). Methanoid: Why didn't you just click it & find out ? Surely easier to find out for yourself than go & ask someone on an unrelated forum in a barely related thread... You should also bear in mind that the site is currently only a no-frills database for use primarily by the contributors (for example it's not even linked from the main TOSEC site yet). But anyway, there is only 1 download which contains ClrMamePro dats & cuesheet packs for all systems/categories. Dats are submitted for TIM inclusion every time they're updated but the website is more up-to-date than TIM is currently. There is no need for RomCenter dats as it's been able to run with ClrMamePro dats for a long time now. |

hi iduro,
thanks for your reply and the wiki hint, even after knowing it was there it took a while to find it well, i have read the guide and it looks evolved in large parts, and is very close to what i request from contributors. imho that could be narrowed. i personaly only use eac for any audio rippings (accutaterips of course) and cant agree more there. theres no alternative yet on other platforms to eac.... Quote:
are close to nil if dumpend by other means. recarding additional, i request/let scan them too. we need them for license research, so thats nothing different for us (just the reason why we need that info) Quote:
i'll look into the clrmame issue, which we dont use (yet?) since we record info separately, once i have a bit time... more info soon, tnx so far |

OK, shout if you need anymore infomation/clarifying on anything.
Anything without audio stands a good chance of matching each other's dumping formats |
