WinUAE: Strange Request

I get a strange Request (WinUAE Message) when I leave a Workbench RTG OS 3.2/3.9 BB4 open and not active for about 20 minutes, the problem occurs also with other WinUAE versions.

With an OS 3.1 RTG it doesn't seem to happen, the Request is annoying, if you try to exit it reappears with different values. The Request can't be closed and neither WinUAE can be closed, to close everything you have to use the Windows Task Manager.

Toni if you need to do some procedure, indicate me the most appropriate, I attach screenshot with the strange Request

It means something happened that can't be possible. I assume you mean it also happens with 4.4, not just 4.5/4.9 betas?

Keep log window open, does anything interesting appear in log window when it happens?

Is something supposed to happen in about 20 mins? Screensaver?

@AMIGASYSTEM : did you check the "power options" ?
Are some devices "turned off" after 20 min ?

No I use a Fixed PC, also this happens while I use the PC to do other things, maybe this could be the cause.

Also on the Workbench there is no Screensaver installed and the WBstartup is empty.

It also happens with V4.4.0

Yes about 20 Minutes, not always, sometimes it takes much longer, no Screensaver has been activated, while WinUAE is open I use the PC for other things.

Tests:

Does it happen if you boot without startup-sequence? (use 3.2, OS3.9BBx introduces too many unknown variables)

Does it happen if you don't use RTG mode? (Select normal PAL mode, save it, quit winuae, run winuae, load and run your config)

Can you close it with right clicking on WinUAE on Windows taskbar and selecting Close? (I do that when requester don't permit to close WinUAE clicking on x or pressing ok)

No on the WinUAE GUI the right mouse button is deactivated, the Request does not even allow you to use the F12 key, the only thing active is the request!

You are not going get rid of the error. Emulation state is corrupt. Only possibility is to kill the process.

In fact you can only do it from the Tak Manager!

Toni I had already done the test with OS3.2 saving the PAL, today I did the test again, at the moment after almost an hour the request has not appeared.

I will have to do more tests with OS 3.9 and 3.2 Standard+RTG, as I said with OS 3.1 RTG the problem does not seem to occur, only 3.2 and 3.9 BB4 receives that request.

I also had this happen, see my post from July 5, 2021. And it was not due to the reason I posted ! And I am not using 3.2 but 3.9 with bb3 so 3.2 is not the problem !
Seems it only outputs 3### series numbers but not in sequence. Have not had this happen for a while and wish I had written down which betas it was and more info so Toni could track it down. And since you had the screen saver off, mine was on, that rules that out

Thanks for the confirmation, yes on WinUAE I have deactivated the Windows Screensaver.

Tried also to activate the Screensaver and once started the animation nothing happened, no request appeared.

In fact OS 3.2 is not the culprit as you confirm it also happens with OS 3.9, I only tested it on BB4 and AfA One.

I'll keep testing and maybe I'll discover the culprit!

I assumed the screensaver question was asking about a screensaver running inside the Amiga installation?

Keep OS3.2 config and keep reducing everything possible. No JIT, no expansions (uaescsi.device etc..).

- No uaescsi.device
- No uaenet.device
- No bsdsocket.library


Found a way to close WinUAE from "Notification area icons".

could you add a date/time to Error requesters like this or when WinUAE crashes?
Annoying to code maybe, but could be handy to investigate also through Windows Event Viewer what happened at that exact moment in Windows...

It is in the log if logging is enabled. This is probably the only one this kind of error requester anyway.

Toni I attach my config, today I did more tests and the Request did not show up, I strongly suspect that some Windows application is causing the problem, it could be Bowser (FireFox), it's the application I often use when I leave WinUAE open.
