X-Copy shrine
For the longest time, I wanted to put up a small website to tribute the wonderful disk copier X-Copy.
Thanks to Mr. Vince's work behind the scenes, the current copyright holder granted us the right to distribute the software, given that no money ever passes hands. Mr. Vince made images of some of the master disks, and after lots of procrastination, I finally managed to gather together some energy to make a little website to go with them. So without any fanfare, I present to you: http://jope.fi/xcopy/ Hopefully more images will be made available in the near future and I'll also try and find time to take more screenshots and add more content. And please remember, these are for personal private use only. No selling, no bundling. Please read the license. |

I had the idea of writing a little online manual with an overview of the features X-Copy pro offers. Not going to cover X-Copy TNG, as I had already converted to SuperDuper by the time TNG was out. :-) |

Since I found some of the disks have the naming "_bad" (which I normally do use when disks had errors while dumping - but this might have been due to only partially formatted media when the master was prepared with a copy mode that would only copy used tracks), I think it would make sense that some people actually try them out and report back. I just transferred the whole bunch of data to Jope.
After all is verified, good, whatever, someone might want to send this to e.g. Aminet as well... The effort in getting the rights freed fro private & non-commercial use was to make sure these would not fade into oblivion. However, my resources are limited and I can only ingest but not check every image made. |

I booted them all up and everything I tried worked. But to be honest I didn't attempt to read every single file. At least X-Copy and Cyclone works on each image and they all boot up to workbench without a single read error.
I'll check the _bad images a bit more thoroughly later today. |

I wonder what you're viewing this with? There are actually no font definitions on the page, so the browser gets to decide what it displays to you. (on all my browsers it gets displayed at the same size as EAB)
But if you let me know what you're using, I'll check it out. Otherwise just verify (and change?) your browser's zoom level or the default fonts if it's an Amiga browser. |

I have an original x-copy box and manual somewhere in my storage. I might have even scanned it along time ago, would it be anygood for the site?

Thanks for the offer, scanned manuals would be appreciated, Mr. Vince probably has the master copy of the disk already.
