CD32 riser with PS2 in combination with CD32 keyboard port

Hey!

In my quest for the ultimate CD32 setup I had some custom CD32 keycaps made for my Corsair backlit keyboard.

It looks AWESOME by the way :-)

It's a USB keyboard, connected to a Sum A234/CD32 adapter on the default CD32 keyboard port.
There's also a TF328 connected on a riser by 7-bit. This riser has VGA out and no PS2 connector. (this one: https://retro.7-bit.pl/?lang=en&go=p...&name=CD32EXSL )

This combination works fine and I love it.
(so unless someone sells me a genuine CD32 keyboard, it's a keeper :-) )

However: If I use a riser by Kipper2K, the one with the PS2 connector and RGB video connector, the SUM adapter does NOT work (and apparently nothing else does on the CD32 keyboard/serial port).
Any keyboard connected to the SUM just spits out garbage.

Does anyone else experienced this with this riser?
Does the PS2 port on the riser in anyway interferes with the default CD32 keyboard port?
Does anyone know a fix?

Thanks!

P.S. to all CD32 riser designers: I like the 7-bit one because it has the video port facing sideways instead of to the back. This gives less strain when connecting cables.
On the Kipper2K one it feels like the video cable is just too heavy as it pulls/bends the entire board down, giving stress on the connectors.
Maybe you can just turn it so it faces the same way than the PS2 port?

Edit: I tested it with a second riser with a ps2 port -> same issue.
Both risers work fine with a PS2 keyboard connected so it does not seem to be "just" a faulty riser board.

The PIC chip on the kipper2k riser translates keyboard input from the PS2 into something the Amiga can understand, a side affect is that the existing keyboard port is rendered unusable.

Remove the PIC chip from the riser, and the built in port will work as normal again.

OK, thanks.
It's soldered directly on the board though ...

Anyway - good to know, I'll be avoiding those risers then.

Ah shame, mine is in a socket so I can pop it out if needed.

Same here. The riser created issue with the keyboard (q always pressed) so I ended up buying another kind of riser (the one with VGA 15hz) and the keyboard works just fine. Same TF328.
