@Turran
I get a error when I want to upload new files/folders to the "/~Uploads/Crashdisk" folder. Code:
553 Error: you have no upload rights for this directory! |

Hi, I extra registered here to write this, as I found no other means to contact the operator of this ftp and/or mirror.
The problem: Keeping traffic low Last year I mirrored a few directories. Yesterday I tried to get up to sync with the current state of those directories. I used midnight commander for that. Well it went pretty bad and 11gb traffic was wasted. The transfer also stalled somewhere in the middle or a bit later. Today I started a wget mirror, I haven't checked if it's complete yet. All I wanted were file updates, aka files that weren't present on my server already. When I copy files I usually use rsync over ssh. Many advantages. For one it only transfers what is missing, and it compresses and deduplicates the data in the transfer process leading to less traffic used. The added encryption makes sure that no middleman can tamper with the data stream and inject anything or change contents. Pretty much an upgrade all across the board. It is completely possible to configure ssh or even a rsync server with read only access, also chrooted/isolated. So yeah, I'd like to propose setting up an rsync server or making the files available via ssh. sshd can be configured to act as a pure file server only. Of course the devil is in the details. |
