potential new project

So I saw this on eBay and I figured it could be a fun project:

I guess my question is: is there a piece of software that I can use on the PC side to utilize this cable? Has anyone used this before? This is the first I've seen of its kind so I know next to nothing about it. Should I win this, I will probably need the help of EAB's finest as usual to guide me on how to use it.

how about mounting a mini-itx board inside an A500 case and driving the floppy from there ? and a KVM switch to control both units ?
