I disagree.

I think it's very useful even for samples below 31kHz (B-3). The 2x decimator (for downsampling) is also quite decent, so it's a good way of reaching higher notes for samples in your collection. There is no other way to initiate the high-quality downsampler, the built-in ones in the sample editor are really poor.

You can just right-click, or press ESC/N when it pops up to cancel it.

I know how to convert sample to the note I want. This kind of forced helping doesn't help me at all. Contrary. Every time I load, reload, re-edit sample (which happens to be very often) that is destined to one of notes like F#3, G-3, G#3 , A-3 , A#3 and B-3 I'm bugged with this message. I would like to disable it permanently.

Fair enough, I'll make a config entry for disabling it.
Also remember that another reason for implementing the downsampler was so that the user can get more data loaded into the rather small 64K limit.

Hold on, there's an issue with clicks when looping samples once. I'm investigating. Will release v1.36 after fixing it.

Done.

Btw. I just noticed that you added Karplus Strong synthesis feature. Do you know what versions of Protracker supported that? It would be such a nice toy to play if developed further...

From very early on, possibly even the first public version.

Just released v1.38, now with 128kB sample support again.
To enable the 128kB support, you need to check out the "64K_LIMIT" setting on top of the new protracker.ini file.

Important: Please read the comment above this config file setting. It explains a few things that you should know about 128kB mode.

Do you think sample instantiation is feasible? (read: more instruments using the same sample but different parameters - ideal for chiptunes)

Not really, the tracker is meant to work with .MOD only (and the PT replayer).

What about adding a "stereo separation" slider (0-100%) as WinUAE does? I'm not a fan of the mixdown either and there are no hardpanning binaries in the Linux version.
There are many ways to downmix the channels yourself with a custom audio render path (this is mine) but the other way round is impossible.

You just quoted a really old post, nice.
Anyway, check out "STEREOSEPARATION" at the bottom of protracker.ini.

There were only 4 posts with 'stereo' in the thread. I've picked that one.
Anyways, there is no protracker.ini in the Linux version and i had to find my way to figure out it has to go into ~/.protracker (ini taken from the Windows version). And it works, thanks! I guess it will go similar with FT2.

Well, yeah that means a new routine but think at how have more parameters for a sample might save RAM instead of have multiple copies of the same

It's just not fundamentally compatible with how MOD works. The PT2 clone really is a ProTracker 2 clone, it's meant to operate on .MOD and not add new things to the format or the replayer.
