Recommendation for A1200 keyboard?

Hi,

Have an A1200, rev 1D board in it. Keyboard works except for BOTH shift keys.

Caps lock works but not for every key.

So I am figuring the keyboard is going toast and need to either replace it or find a way to connect one of the older PC keyboards I have here to the thing.. even if just to test it to even see if the keyboard is the problem..

Suggestions?

Thanks

You should get a replacement membrane, then it will work again.

Or, fix the membrane. Gentle, use multimeter tool and you can use conductive nikle or something like that. Exacto knife to scrape away the traces if necessary but have to be very careful. There are videos on YouTube.

Or, just get a new membrane!

I have a 'PC-Key 1200' for my ex-towered 1200.

I recently replaced my 600s membrane with the thicker type
with common ribbon + hard connector.

Ok thanks.. . will try the cleaning, and probably grab a membrane and a PC compatible thing too just in case.

BTW, pretty good coincidence it is both shift keys only.. everything else works...

But, have you tried to use your keyboard to play something like Duke3d where you cannot move forward and strafe at the same time due to the PC-KEY?

The membrane is toast.. I just pulled it and there was damage from condensation (this goes along with the other system I have spoke about I am trying to resurrect that were in storage for years while I was active military.

While my other systems are toast, this A1200 seemed to be the one that worked but then I realized the shift keys were not working.. Turns out the membrane turned brittle in one corner and due to moisture that got inside the keyboard itself.

I cleaned the metal plate and keys, will have to order a membrane and see what happens now. Just hope U7 is still good or I could be shit out of luck.
