way to go. I don't care much about Cannonball on the amiga. It's great on the PC, but won't buy a Vampire for that.

On the other hand, I enjoy 1:1 (or approaching) arcade perfect ports on classic amigas. So keep up the good work.

I also like the 1:1 arcade target, or at least close enough. The Amiga deserves a good port.

That said, the only thing I always disliked about the Arcade version is the color (rather pinkish than red) and the shading. Looks like orange peel or lots of dents to me. As you said you have to reduce colors anyway, there you can save a lot I think .

(But then it's not arcade close anymore. I'm torn ...)

Do you use the copper for shifting left and right the road bitmap changing the shift register and the bitplane pointer every line?

when we talk about 1200 of the time we are talking about a 1200 with at least 4 mo fast as I had in 1993? because a 1200 without fast is not exploited but restricted

Only rich people had FastRAM in their A1200s.

I remember saving up for two years to get enough for my A1200, then another 6 months to get a small HDD because by that point the 1200 was down to £299

FastRAM? Yeah, but only after saving for ages and ages for a Blizzard 1230/IV which was comparatively dirt cheap because the PC was taking over in a big way.

On hold until we’re done with 1942.
DJ Metune will be doing the Outrun tunes. Perhaps he can use the transcriptions. Thanks for the tip.

I'm really interested in this project but have little to add, apart from when me and my mate played it on the Atari ST (basically the same as the miggy version) we were so disappointed so my mate being a decent artist came up with this in Degas Elite:

I must apologise for mentioning Atari! I eventually gave in and got the better machine...but I still have a very soft spot for the ol' ST :-)

ummm...

From what I know, you can't just draw single frame of some game as a proof that engine is not good.
Because in engine, everything is in layers, with reduced colors so it fits memory... it's just... not comparable...
It's like constructing nice looking tank out of carbon boxes, versus, real working tank.

Sorry if I misunderstood you.

I think he was just reminiscing the disappointment of the ST/Amiga ports and sharing some art from back in the day. nothing more.

I wish you good work Agermose!

While doing a little research about the 'vile feud' between Amiga lovers and US Gold, I found out the Lantus (MVG) port and your new project and I feel really excited for this episode come to an end after all these years!

I'm talking about it on my own Mega Bezel Commodore Pack project, as soon as something playable gets out in the wild I'd be pleased to do a little gameplay video.

We've got excellent examples like Lotus and Jaguar, and the superb Super Hangon port... we know Amiga has the power. You got the skills. Now, let's make history!

Hah, yeah I wasn't saying anything apart from the fact we were both incredibly unhappy with what Probe Software (I think that was they guys who did the amiga/st conversion) came up with. Even the car was poorly drawn and barely resembled the arcade. In fact I wonder if the original port could be reskinned to make it a bit more appealing!
