.COP Disk images

I know people here have discussed this topic before but cant seem to get xadundisk to work! . What parameters are you using?, I tried :
xadundisk FROM A.COP TO DF0:

it has a verify error after 3 cylinders!

I tried the Simplex Tools disk (from TOSEC) with COP on it but i cant read german!

Im using AmigaSYS 3 and the latest WinUAE

I would appreciate any help on this manner.

COP Images Continued

Every time i use the xadundisk from a COP to a file it unpacks the disk but comes out as an NDOS disk. The COP images are from Amigascene FTP.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I am using the latest XAD & XPK client. Xadundisk uses xpkSHRI.library when decompressing the disk. I have the COP client in libs/xad .... maybe im missing something?

Its mentioned in an old thread, Its a disk compression system called COP. Unfortunately its in german and i cant read or use this program.

You can find it on a disk called Simplex Tools 2 (19xx)(MSPI). If you want to have look i will upload it to the Zone (if its legal that is!).

You can find some on the Amiga Scene FTP (ftp.amigascne.com).

I've just tried http://ftp.amigascne.org/pub/amiga/G...-Slideshow.cop with both COP! and xadundisk and got no problems. Maybe your file is corrupt ?

But maybe this is a help for you:

i need to ask what command line did you use with xadundisk?

xadundisk "COP File" DF0:?

i get "verify failed" every time

when using COP! did you need a the xad COP compressor for it to work?

did you have to choose a packer in the options?

sorry for the ranting but i have a few disks i want to un .COP

Yes, I used the same command line and COP! doesn't need xad.
Maybe you can show me a non working file as WinUAE should not have verify errors on disks.

ok from here : http://ftp.amigascne.org/pub/amiga/Tools/UtilityDisks/ all the .COP files i cant fix

I tried the disk which you pointed to and i couldnt get that to work either

So when using COP! do you insert the cop file into the drive? I cant seem to get this program to do anything other than Copy the disk!

No, you can't insert the cop file in the drive as WinUAE can't understand it and you write to the same file that you read from which would explain the verify errors.

Just press the Create Standard Disk button in WinUAE's floppy section and insert that file into the drive. A simple xadundisk xxx.cop df0: should work then.

For COP! itself you have to select Datei (=File) on the buffer gadget select the file in gadget below it (Dateiname=Filename) select your destination drive ( under Ziel(e), Ziele is the plural, so you can select more than one drive if you want) and then you can press Schreiben (Write).

Old thread, but i stumbled over same problem as described in above posts.
"jjsmith" has not posted, how he solved the problem.
As mentioned, the "COP" tool itself works!
But with the use of XAD it fails each time for me too.
It creates NDOS disks with data garbage, where the disk should be plain DOS.
So what i am doing wrong too?
"xadundisk from DH1:test.cop to DH1:1.adf" - creating disk image on HD.
created disk image is corrupt.
"xadundisk from DH1:test.cop to DF0:" - writing to blank disk in df0:
i have got error message: an eroor occured - verify error

So any idea?
my config, something wrong here?
Quote:
WinUAE 1.61. - Amikit installation 020 CPU
xadmaster.library 12.1 (28.09.2003) CPU020 - this is correct here
cop:$VER: COP 1.3 (14.04.2002)
SHRI.library Version 1.0 - i have no idea, if this is really needed!
I have uploaded to the zone an COP image, if you would like to try to solve the problem.

So noone tried it out, thats too bad!
Anyway, i have the suspicion, that it has something to do with emulation.
I have to try it on real Amiga.
I have also noticed that each time i try to convert the same COP file to ADF, i get different corrupt ADF (crc32).

i did a test - with jit/fastest possible and 800% floppy i get the error. i could see 3/80 cylinders - next was the error message.
next tested with cycle exact/approximate a500/1200 speed/ no-JIT/100% floppy:
_once_ i saw 12/80 cylinders - and again the error message. did here more tests, but never saw 12/80 again, just 3/80 cylinders again :/
libs:compressors/xpkaSHRI.library is called by xdaunDisk.

I've tried a COP image on my 4000D and it also reports an error and doesn't get past 3/80

I tried on a real A1200/060 and got the same problems, verify errors!! Renaming it to 1.cop, I can write to track 72 before it fails? Does it need a specific version of COP in Libs\XAD or a different xpkSHRI.library in Libs\compressors?

Success!

Used the COP! R1.2 utility attached to this post and the info from post #11 and it wrote back a disk called protrackerv2.5. Tried it in WinUAE and on my A1200/060 and it writes back in both environments without any errors. There must something 'extra' that xadundisk doesn't know about that COP! creates!!
