[AmigaCD] Final Odyssey: Theseus Verses the Minotaur - .HDF & .LHA

Heya guys,

Tonight I've installed another "AmigaCD" game to .HDF... Final Odyssey: Theseus Verses the Minotaur

Of course, it no longer requires the CD-ROM anymore...

I've also added in the following:

a) The Faction +14 trainer from here.
b) The solution from here (which gets displayed via PPMore).

As per usual, thought I'd share this .HDF with emulator users. Virtually no Workbench files are used (beside "Assign" / "Execute" / "IconX" / "LoadWB" / "SetPatch") so it should be safe to upload...

Grab the .HDF from the EAB File Server under the directory "~Uploads/DamienD/HDFs"

Oh yeah, forgot to ask...

Regarding the "Bonus" game, I know that once you've completed "Final Odyssey: Theseus Verses the Minotaur" you will be told the required password to access / play.

Anyone know what this is?

Ok, have just done the same thing as what I did with The Strangers [AmigaCD] i.e...

For real Amiga users; a file "FinalOdysseyAGA.lha" has been created and uploaded to the EAB File Server under the directory "~Uploads/DamienD/LHAs"

Extract the archive contents to anywhere on your hard drive and it will run perfectly

It requires roughly 43MB of space...

Are you after the .HDF or .LHA archive?

As for getting an error when trying to download, probably too many anonymous users connected when you tried (20 maximum).

There seems to be a bug either in this version or the emulator:

After playing about an hour, in level 1 in the room right under the man tied to the wall (Karlos) where the woman hostage is in the cage, there is a switch. When using that switch it should lead to an underground room with a blacksmith who gives you tongs.

Can be seen here at about 1:10:18:

But in this version after using the switch and going down in the underground the player is stuck in the middle of a room full of walls, so no blacksmith, no tongs and so not able to continue the game...

Any solution to this?

I made a save game where the player is directly in front of the switch - just try it yourself. The save game with this position is F10.

Mmmh, I've also found some annoying bugs reported here: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=107801
Now I wonder if it's a corrupt game version or this game was simply missing a lot of beta-testing....

EDIT: tried 2-3 iso files I've found but it's all the same...

That’s a good question - how could the longplay over at YouTube have been done without running into these troubles??

I tried different things: Removing all save games and starting the game from the beginning again - same problem. Copying the save game to the latest UAE and trying it on the emulator - same problem. Using DamienD‘s startable HDF instead of booting my Workbench and starting the game extracted from the LHA archive from there - same problem. Tested some different hardware configurations in UAE and on my MiSTer - same problem.

Maybe a switch used earlier in the game causing this (like the one you described in your report)? Or is it some kind of copy protection?

I think only DamienD could help. At least I hope so.

But the question remains - why did the guy who did the longplay not encounter the bug? It seems he played it on an emulator.

It’s frustrating as I want to solve the first level by myself and it can’t be done at the moment.
