Galactic contributions

With the advent of HOL 2, I thought it time to start a new contribution thread.

Box and disk scans for two compilations have been uploaded to the HOL ftp.

They are for two Australian ECP compilations not mentioned in HOL:

1. The Thrill of Winning Adventure Pack [Bards Tale 2; Keef the Thief; Starflight; and Swords of Twilight] (Box and disk scans)

2. The Thrill of Winning : Volume II [688 Attack Sub; Populous; Powerdrome; and World Tour Golf] (Box scan only)

Thumbs up Nice work Galaxy!

Thanks Galaxy. Do you have any more information about either of these compilations? For example, what year they came out? Were they only released in Australasia or should Electronic Arts also be shown as a publisher etc?

Thrill of Winning: Adventure Pak - http://hol.abime.net/?id=4628
Thrill of Winning: Vol II - http://hol.abime.net/?id=4641

BTW, absolutely brilliant work on the scans. Perfect sizes, backgrounds of the disks the right colour, good file sizes - superb work!

I've given you as much info as I can. I only own the adventure compilation, and there is no mention of any dates. Both compilations were for sale on Ebay a few weeks ago, and I was outbid on the second compilation in the last minute. I did manage to contact the seller though and he kindly scanned the cover of the other compilation for me.

They were distributed here by ECP in large (old VHS-style) hinged plasic boxes. I suspect they were local compilations. Back then ECP handled all Australian distribution of EA, and often games they distributed had different boxes to those sold overseas. I suspect the compilation is from 1990 - but it is only a guess. I am planning to look through my ACAR mags to see if I can find it advertised.

UPDATE: I've located both items listed in 1990 ACAR mags so I'd put 1990 as the publish date.

Floppy disk Compilations missing from HOL

Attention guardians of HOL!

There are some compilations listed on ebay that are not in HOL:

If anyone is feeling rich they might like to bid for these and scan them for HOL / dump them for CAPS...

Gold Fever Pack / US Gold [Turbo outrun; Strider; Ghouls n' Ghosts; Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade]

Titus Action 2 / Titus [Wild Streets; Galactic Conqueror; Off Shore Warrior; Fire and Forget 2]

Amiga Champions / Ozisoft [Double Dragon; Operation Wolf; Afterburner]

Star Wars Trilogy (in HOL, but MIA) http://hol.abime.net/?id=3974

Alternatively (if no one is interested) we could try to contact the seller and ask him nicely to scan them for us.

164 disk scans have been uploaded to the FTP. They were scanned @300dpi for CAPS and downsized to the 320 pixel width used in HOL. I have not checked to see which ones are in HOL - some will certainly be there already although these may well be better scans.

Hmm ... could you supply an ingame ("in-action") screenshot of Skeet Shoot too, please?
The second screen is only the gun calibration screen, which I think is a bit weak for a DBS.
