E-UAE V MaxUAE

Hi

I have toyed with both MaxUAE anf E-UAE, but have never seemed to get either working quite
correctly and have found MaxUAE to be somewhat faster with loading Etc...

Why did it start getting said MaxUAE is dead long live E-UAE, both have never been
updated to anything like something anybody can use and I get so frustrated trying

How come somebody has'nt picked up on this for us poor Mac users, well maybe not poor
in some respects as Macs do not come cheap

E-UAE works quite well over here. In what sort of trouble did you get?

Hi

E-UAE takes a while to load anything and I feel the graphics could be better.

When I got MaxUAE going it loaded faster and had slicker graphics.

Followed a setup guide for E-UAE still ran the same.

Thing is I had a mess of different files from all over the place on my Mac from E-UAE & MaxUAE, I think that may have been
part of the problem.
Now cleaned everything off and going to restart another evening following the setup docs that come with the Ultimate
E-UAE package from the Ultimate Amiga site : http://pspuae.condor.serverpro3.com/index.php?page=7

Thing is neither of these packages is going to be that good as all developement had stopped

I think it would be great if somebody could write a complete idiots guide for E-UAE including the installing
of the SDL.framework and everything, just read about this, did'nt install that before

There is a really neat tutorial on amigaemuboard.net, but it is in German... The GUI is not complete. You'll have to edit .uarc manually for advanced options like drive speed.

I never noticed a difference between the graphics of E-UAE and WinUAE, but this may depend on the display system, i.e. SDL etc. Why not simply download SDL-1.2.14.dmg form libsdl.org? (I'm not a Mac user.)

Watch out for P-UAE, when it's stable.

EDIT: Hey wait. There is a tutorial on the site you linked.

Hi

Yes I know about that Guide, but I forgot to load the SDL.framework

Also unaware of changing the drive speed in the .uarc file , there is config app called Hi-Toro where you can alter the drive speed but even if you increase that things seem to stay the same

That's most likely a problem of Hi-Toro then.

E-UAE's floppy drive emulation will work at <speed> per cent of a real
Amiga floppy drive (relative to the speed of the rest of the emulation).
Valid values are from '100' to '800', that is 1x to 8x the speed of a
standard Amiga floppy drive.

What a let down! Last night I tried E-UAE with HiToro on my G4@ 867 mhz running OSX Tiger. What can I say...unbearably sluggish - I get about 5 fps with my sound set at 8 bit 22 khz. MaxUAE seems a bit faster, but need to tinker with config file which I cannot find.

Funny things is that in the late 90s I used to get similiar speed (with sound off) on my PowerMac 7200 which featured PowerPC 601@ 90 mhz. My 266 mhz G3 Powerbook with the last revision of UAE (0.8.16?) for classic macOS is running circles around my G4.
