GOTEK Floppy Emulator: Covert ADF to real floppies?
Hello all,
Is it possible to connect an external floppy drive, and using a software such as X-Copy duplicate an ADF file on a Gotek floppy emulstor unit (df0), to a real floppy disk inserted in the external drive? (df1) That way, this ADF file is converted to a real floppy diskette. Thanks for your insights in advance! |

Easy but slow. :-) I prefer using transdisk to write the adf file directly to disk on an Amiga.

As slow as reading a track from a floppy and then writing it to another is. Writing an ADF from a file only requires you to wait for the written tracks.
Then there's of course the malarkey of assigning the adf to a slot and so on, depending on what firmware your gotek has. |

Thanks for your comments. OK, can you elaborate a bit more about transdisk please?
What are the arguments for this program, do I need any special wires or adapters? I did a Google search on it, but all the results point to transferrting files from PC to Amiga. On my A1200, I was able to use adf2disk and tsgui |

To write file.adf to a formatted disk in df0:
transdisk -w file.adf To write game.adf to a formatted disk in df1: transdisk -w game.adf -d trackdisk 1 You can of course use whatever adf writing tool you like. I use transdisk, others prefer to mouse around in file requesters and whatnot. One caveat about transdisk, the disk must be in an amiga format (contents irrelevant) before you write. This naturally assumes that you have a quick method of sending files to your Amiga. If your machine is a base A500, then you will probably be better off copying to floppies off a gotek.. On a more expanded machine I use smbfs to mount a samba share and then write the files to disk directly off there. |
