What is the opposite of frameskip called? :)

I am aware this might fit better for another forum, on the other hand frameskip is an emulator term and I thought Toni or Froede might come up with a name.

This term then would stand for the showing of 50 fps on the very common 60 Hz PC monitors, where a frame stays on-screen for two frames every so often. So it's the opposite of frame skip. What should it be called?

(Danish users, don't any naughty ideas... )

If there really isn't already such a term for this, then here's my suggestion:

framepad(ding)

It was running very smooth then framelocked for 2 frames when the explosion triggered.

Some good suggestions so far... Well, better than my "frame snag" (compare sock catching on a nail in the wooden floor, part of sock stays behind briefly). Frame stretch is another crappy one I thought up now...

IFW: which of all those words are you suggesting?

Judder is british for "shudder, wobble" and the "pulldown" term is for displaying NTSC video on PAL devices (so again, the opposite)!

OK, I've been looking for terms. You'd think you'd find this complaint mentioned is Windows gaming communities, but I guess subpar framerate has been accepted there a long time. There's "low fps", but of course that's untrue for the Amiga as it outputs a constant 50.

Frame stutter has been mentioned on game forums. But that has to do with a purely rendering-fps scenario and means framerate going up and down randomly. Here, frame hitch is also mentioned, so that should be avoided.

Jope mentioned doubled frames on IRC. But frame doubling for video means doubling the constant framerate. "Occasionally doubled frames". "Occasional but regularly recurring framerate conversion frame doubling." Just rrrrrrolls off the tongue, doesn't it?

Frame stagger, maybe. Or framerate conversion stagger. But that's not quite right either.

I like frame doubling or frame padding best so far because they say what happens.

That would cause a lot of stuttering.
I think I wouldn't like it in my beloved WinUAE.
Just think about scrolltexts or just a slimple sidescrolling plattformer/shoot em up.

But from a technical point of view that was imho the best answer so far.

Panasonic refer to it as "Intelligent Frame Creation". I don't think that's a bad name to use, assuming it's not copyrighted.

Ha ha ha That's one way of describing a stuttering framerate :P

Umm...no For the technical reasons posted by me. Hehe. Well, not name-wise, anyway. The names don't mean what we refer to here.

I was still reading wiki while you posted that.
